3 Series rules roost in compact executive market

27 January 2009

The BMW 320D ES has won an award from What Car? magazine.

BMW only had itself to beat as it claimed the Best Compact Executive honours at the recent What Car? awards.

Judges at the event had a choice of three vehicles from the BMW 3 Series in the category, as these were the only vehicles to make the shortlist.

In the end, it was determined that the BMW 320d ES was a worthy winner of the award, continuing a trend of awards for vehicles in the 3 Series.

Also in 2008, the Environmental Transport Association crowned the 3 Series as the Best Large Family Vehicle, while it receive the Best Small Premium Car accolade from Business Car.

Klaus Kibsgaard, managing director of BMW UK, said: "It's always a pleasure to be recognised for your endeavours.

"The BMW 3 Series is the lifeblood of our model portfolio and this prestigious award adds further weight to its class-leading position in the eyes of buyers."

In a review of the BMW 320d ES, Channel Four stated that the vehicle was quick, economical and a great drive.
