Mini releases concept car
16 December 2009Anyone looking for a used Mini may have more choice soon as the firm has unveiled a new concept model.
Mini released the first version of its Beachcomber car, a four-seater without doors or a standard roof.
It does, however, have a soft roof and lightweight door fittings to be used in case of bad weather.
Despite its openness, Mini says that the Beachcomber is "strong and stable" and able to absorb impact should there be a collision.
In addition, it claims that the Beachcomber has "cutting edge suspension technology".
Used car buyers may be able to get good deals when newer vehicles come out, as people sell their current ones.
The Prime Minister recently praised the Mini E model, one of a number of cars being tested by ministers and members of the public to research greener travel.
It is an electric and zero-emissions car.
Business secretary Lord Mandelson also welcomed the car's entry to the programme.
