Research finds that the MINI is the slowest depreciating car.
Used car owners looking for a car that maintains the highest percentage of its original price should look no further than the MINI 1.4TD, new research has found. The diesel-powered vehicle has been acknowledged as the UK's slowest depreciating used car by analysis carried out by EurotaxGlass's.
Findings from the firm revealed that a three-year-old MINI which has completed 37,000 miles has a trade in value of 63.2 per cent of its original price.
The result means that the vehicle takes top spot in EurotaxGlass's annual residual value league table for the second successive year.
Adrian Rushmore, managing editor at EurotaxGlass's, said: "The factors that help make the MINI as close to recession-proof as possible in the current used car market are its strong image, reasonable running costs and its high levels of perceived quality."
The Citroen CI and the Ferrari F430 were other vehicles to maintain a high percentage of their original price after three years.
Meanwhile, second hand car drivers looking to purchase a highly rated vehicle may wish to consider the Vauxhall Insignia, which has been revealed as the 2009 Car of the Year.
