Joining Vauxhall's Astra range, the new Sports Tourer is gearing up to enter the British market later this year with a comprehensive list of additional standard equipment. Priced from £16,575, which is over £500 less than the current entry-level model Astra Estate, the car is likely to account for about 10% of all sales.

The Sports Tourer range starts from the entry-level 1.4 (100PS) ES model, which features an additional 10PS of horsepower over its counterpart 1.4 Astra Estate. It also receives other standard equipment, such as an Electronic Parking Brake (EPB), Electronic Stability Control (ESP), curtain airbags, air conditioning, Active Safety Front Head Restraints and an aux-in socket.

Furthermore, the premium Sports Tourer model is priced from just £995. Over the five-door hatch model, the car benefits from a roomy cargo space, despite keeping the same wheelbase as the new hatch.

Diesel pricing is enticing as well, with the price of the entry-level model 110PS 1.7 CDTi ES Sports Tourer less compared to the outgoing unit 90PS 1.3 CDTi Astra Estate Life. It is also packed with more power and emits just sub-120g/km of CO2.

The Sports Tourer range is available from four trim levels - Sri, SE, Exclusiv and ES - but features an array of standard and optional kit, including FlexFold, an innovative design that is used to lower every part of the 60:40 split fold rear seatbacks through a press button located in the walls of the cargo compartment.

Illustrating the expertise of Vauxhall's manufacturing and engineering division, the Sports Tourer will be built at its Ellesmere Port facility in Cheshire, while the car's upper-body structure has been solely engineered at Vauxhall Engineering Centre at Bedfordshire.
