Kia Motors UK is delighted to announce that its new compact crossover SUV Sportage is the latest and fourth model to have been specially built for the UK's drivers and roads. The new Sportage, which is set to be produced at the company's Zilina facility in Slovakia, has gone through final testing earlier this year in the UK.
Following in the footsteps of Sorento, Soul and Venga, the car will hit the UK showrooms on 1 August 2010.
"Being involved right from the early stages of prototype testing on project 'SL' (the internal codename for the new Sportage), in both dynamic and static performance testing, has meant that we have been able to ensure UK market needs have been incorporated throughout the development process", said Neil Kent, product specialist of Kia Motors UK.
According to Michael Lugert, steering and suspension development manager of Kia Motors UK, the whole suspension set-up - bars, bushes dampers, springs and stabiliser - has been developed to suit European roads. The company, which primarily focuses on ride quality, was also able to balance good dynamics and agility of the car.
Britain is the largest market of Kia in Europe, thus great efforts are exerted to ensure that the company's new products not only look and feel 'European' but perform just what British customers want them to, explained Kia Motors UK Managing Director Michael Cole.
"Sportage has been in the UK for over fifteen years - I'm convinced that the new generation's striking design and great on-road ability will find favour with both our loyal existing customers and people who are new to the Kia brand", added Cole.
