Polestar Performance, the touring car gurus behind the Swedish Touring Car Team, has unveiled their very first road car project - the Volvo C30 Performance Concept Prototype.
The C30 Performance Concept Prototype generates 400PS and transmits the power onto the roads through an all-wheel-drive system. It was designed to show what happens when a team of championship-winning race engineers are given the chance to design and build their own car rather than modifying it to meet rigid race regulations.
We love the Volvo C30 - its a great car with huge potential for development with its low weight and low centre of gravity. Its also a fantastic road car. But now we go much further by combining the road car with cutting edge racing technology, said Polestar Performance race and development driver Robert Dahlgren.
Its particularly inspiring to develop this specific C30. This car is built just in the way we want to do it. Polestar has probably spent more time than anyone else in the world to get speed out of the C30, and this time we can realize ideas without being halted by specific race regulations, added Polestar Racing Technical Director Jan Andersson.
The C30 Performance Concept Prototype features a 400 PS-engine, aerodynamics patterned from race car data gathered by the Polestar team, and an all-wheel-drive.
The public debut of the C30 Performance Concept Prototype is planned for the 2010 Gothenburg Motor Show on 22-25 April. Further information including technical specifications announcements will be posted on Polestar Performances Web site at www.polestar.se.
