24 February 2009
Jaguar Land Rover has highlighted the importance of continuing investment in research and development.
Despite the current negative economic climate, JaguarLand Rover has commented upon the need for businesses to continue to spend money on improving research and development.Speaking at an event entitled Prosperity Through Science, Bob Joyce, Jaguar Land Rover's group engineering director, commented that in the long term profits were made through innovations.
He said: "Technology is the 'hidden' feature that provides customer delight and creates ongoing profits."
Mr Joyce cited the example of the £8.5 million Dynamic Response System, which has contributed to enhancing profits for the Range Rover Sport.
"This is one example of how investment in science and technology can benefit the national and regional economy, while enhancing products and delivering profits," he added.
Jaguar Land Rover spends £400 million each year in the field of research and development, which is more than a third of the money spent across the whole automotive industry on the field.
A review of the Range Rover Sport by What Car? stated that the vehicle is "comfortable, spacious and very desirable".
