Toyota pleased with market share
8 January 2010Market share in 2009 for Toyota was strong, the company has announced.
The brand credited its performance to "new models and a well-organised, fast-starting scrappage scheme offer that had attracted many buyers".
Used Toyota drivers can be reassured that the firm is popular, with December seeing 6,097 sales of passenger and the final three months of 2009 experiencing 22,699 vehicles sold.
Most of the sales the company had were to private buyers (66 per cent).
Additionally, Toyota said that it had had a record passenger car share of 5.14 per cent, beating the previous high of 5.02 per cent in 2006.
In December, Toyota's new business included providing 18 Avensis models to the fleet of Professional Chauffer Services (PCS).
This came after the chauffer service had tried out diesel automatic Avensis Tourers.
PCS's managing director John Murphy praised the Avensis for its "style, roominess and economy" and said they have been performing well.
