BEAUTY MEETS PERFORMANCE

Our Rating: No Rating Available

Alfa Romeo has done what it does best; design a sporty and stunning automobile. The new 8C Competizone blends rear-wheel drive performance with state of the art design. The 8C Competizone is an eye catching specimen of classic Italian design that makes everyone who sees it want to own one.

After the release of the last Alfa Romeo Spider in 1993, it has taken fifteen years for Alfa Romeo to fill the void, and it was well worth the wait. With the release of the 8C Competizone, Alfa Romeo has borrowed from Maserati, the design of the underpinnings while the body is all Alfa Romeo.

The 8C Competizone come equipped with a 4.7 liter V8 engine that can produce 450bhp. With an engine like that it is easy to see why every man longs to get behind the wheel. The engine is a beefed up version of Maserati's 4.2 liter V8, while the 8C chassis is based on a Maserati Quattroporte design which has been shortened to use on the 8C, and with the double wishbone suspension the journey to go from 0-60 occurs in the blink of an eye. The 8C is able to reach 60 in an astounding 4 seconds and tops out at a max speed of 182 mph.

With an impressive weight distribution of 49 percent to the front and 51 percent in the rear, this allows the 8C to take full advantage of the smart traction control system. The inclusion of ventilated disc brakes which measure 360mm in the front and 330mm in the rear, allows you the power to stop on a dime, but why would anyone want to stop this car once it gets going. The sound of the engine is everything that you would expect to come from such an impressive engine. The 8C Competizone is a car that will grab the attention of everyone who is lucky enough to catch a glimpse as it passes.

Every aspect of the design is one that should be appreciated. Wolfgang Egger, has produced a car that represents the true design of Alfa Romeo's of the past. There is not a single area in the design that detracts from the beauty of the 8C. It's as gorgeous sitting still as it is impressive flying down the highway. The design of the 8C is strictly for enjoyment, it is a true two person car that was designed more for enjoyment than practicality. The available space in the trunk is only suitable to hold a briefcase or laptop. The interior design offers a well designed seating area, and adds to the enjoyment of this vehicle.

With a limited production run of 500, the chances of an ordinary person getting to experience everything that the 8C has to offer is slim to none. All 500 that were produced have been sold, so if you're among the elite that were lucky enough to insure that you would be receiving an 8C you are among a very lucky and exclusive club.
