Simply sitting behind the wheel of the Alfa Romeo Brera 2.4 JTDM makes you feel invincible. With everything this car has to offer it is the perfect car for any Alfa Romeo fan. It has the lines and design that Alfa Romeo has come to be known for along with the power to back it up.
With the 2.4 liter JTDM engine in the diesel version of this car it is the most up to date MultiJet diesel engine on the market today. The well designed MultiJet system allows for injection pressure to run independently of the engine speed no matter how diesel is being pumped into the system is a truly remarkable feat. This type of system allows for improved combustion, which benefits both the performance economy of the car. This type of system allows the car to go from 0-60 in a mere 7.9 seconds where it can top out at its max speed of 143mph. The 249lb/ft torque provides an astounding amount pulling power.
The new design of the engine can take some getting used to, the use of the diesel engine require the driver to get accustomed to changing gears faster than in the JTS petrol model. The amount of power starts at 1,500rpm and tops out at 4.500rpm. In between the two, you will have the ability to achieve almost thrilling and dangerous speeds. With the quietness of the engine, you will not be able to hear the growl that comes along with the power, but that shouldn't be a problem for the driver. The main concern is keeping your eye out for police that may put an end to your driving experience.
With the inclusion of the MultiJet technology the Brera 2.4 JTDM is an average 15 percent more economic than other cars in the same class. Averaging an impressive 41.5mpg, this car allows the driver to have fun and not have to worry about how much fuel they are using during the process.
The profile of the Brera may leave a little to be desired for those who are looking for sleeker lines, but the power that it offers certainly makes up for any inadequacies in appearance. The stability of the car offers the driver peace of mind and the interior is simple yet elegant. The only problem some drivers may have is that the driver's seat is somewhat higher than is typical. Taller drivers should also take into consideration that the option of a glass roof will take away an inch of headroom. This may become uncomfortable for some drivers.
The available room in the rear seats is not designed for passengers to sit comfortably. Its best use may be for added storage than for carrying passengers. The trunk is quite spacious for a car of this size and will make loading any bags that much easier. This is a well designed car that any fan of Alfa Romeo will thoroughly enjoy. The only drawback may the price; it is relatively higher than other cars in the same category.
