THE BEAUTY AND THE BEAST

Our Rating: No Rating Available

The Aston Martin DBS is a high performance luxury sports car that stands out amongst many. It is not just a car, it is a master piece built from the ground up by hand. The DBS comes with two variants, the DBS coupe and the DBS Volante convertible. The DBS is a perfect combination of luxury and performance, with a body made of shiny aluminum and a mouth watering interior.

The Aston Martin DBS is not all about looks and one should not be deceived, when revved the beauty unleashes the beast and you can hear a thunderous roar from the a 48 valve V12 engine delivering a break horse power of 510 to the wheels taking the car from 0 to 60 in just under 5 seconds. The state of the art Touchtronic six speed transmission in the DB9 automatically actuates at a mere touch of a row buttons on the center stack and manually operated by fixed, column-mounted paddles crafted using leather and magnesium. When in standard mode the gear shift is relaxed and suitable for urban cruising, in sports mode the gear shift is quick in response and allows downshifts that produce a sharp response from the 5.9 litre V12 engine putting out a horse power of 510 horsepower. When compared with the DB9’s transmission the final drive is shortened from 3.15:1 to 3.46:1, enabling the automatic DBS to accelerate to 60 mph in a claimed 4.3 seconds, the same as the manual version on its way to the same top speed of 191 mph.

The Aston Martin DBS uses the bonded aluminum VH structure which gives it strength and rigidity. The four wheel drive increases traction, handling, responsiveness and it corners gracefully and confidently. Carbon fibre materials are used for the boot, bonnet, door openings and front panel making it much lighter than most sport cars out there. This gives it more horse power per ton.

The hand built interior of the Aston Martin DBS is mind blowing, with heated leather seats, A 10-speaker, 16-channel Bang & Olufsen sound system, carbon fibre door panels, a pop up navigational screen. The list goes on and on, the DBS beats all in class. The DBS comes with two rear seats, although provides no leg room hence they serve more like shelves than seats complimenting the trunk of the DBS which is a modest 6.6 cubic feet.

The DBS coupe comes with sensors that can detect an eminent roll-over, reverse sensors and a suspension system like no other. The DBS coupe has an Adaptive Damping System that gives the driver improved control and handling by adjusting the suspension settings according to the terrain, weather and driver settings. It also tunes the breaking and acceleration systems for a sharper response.

The Aston Martin DBS coupe comes at a starting price of £17589, that’s the price of perfection at its best and it beats other luxury sport cars in its category hands down.
