The Aston Martin V12 Vantage is based on the successful V8 and it is designed to be more driver–oriented than other Aston Martin cars.
The Aston Martin V12 Vantage is smaller than the DBS but has the same engine in it making it faster and smarter than any Aston Martin vehicle out in the market. The V12 Vantage can make 0–62 miles per hour in 4.3 seconds reaching a top speed of 190 miles per hour. The Aston Martin V12 6.0 litre engine puts out the same horse power as that in the DBS producing 510 bhp and 420lb/ft of torque. The Aston Martin V12 although similar to its smaller sibling the V8 which puts out a mere 420bhp is by far a totally different machine and it is engineered from scratch to be more driver–oriented.
The V12 Vantage has a lower seating position, firmer suspensions, a louder exhaust that lets you feel the brute force the engine generates and since it is a smaller more compact car, it is has better maneuverability and handling than other Aston Martins in the market. The Aston Martin V12 can be considered as a total sports car and with just 50kg more than the V8, weight is not an issue. The V12 effortlessly covers distances and goes round hairpin bends with considerable ease.
The V12 comes with a six speed manual gearbox, that is as smooth as that found in the DBS, it also comes with a sport button. On pressing the sport button the car becomes more responsive to throttle pressure and the full power of the 510 bhp V12 engine can be harnessed, given a delightful roar from the exhaust.
Unlike the V8 vintage that comes in cast iron breaks, the new Aston Martin V12 Vantage comes with carbon ceramic brakes, traction control, antilock mechanism, stability control - all working together to give the driver the best control and handling of the car. The power generated from the V12 can lead to an over-steer when going round bends. Any car that comes with a powerful engine such as the Aston Martin V12, there has to be a practical and reliable braking system in place. The Aston Martin V12 was engineered with this in mind and the Pirelli P-Zero corsas are a defining factor in the braking system.
Like the V8 the V12 has the same delicately sculptured body made of bonded aluminum, magnesium and steel composite. The body sits on a firm chassis that holds the V12 in place and an adaptive dampers system (ADS) limits the level of vibrations in the car giving it better handling and control.
The £135,000 V12 Vantage might not be as luxurious as the DBS but it is more of a race car with race–developed components and material, carbon fibre pars it is lighter both in weight and price than the DBS and gives a driving experience like no other car out there. It is a gentleman’s race car.
