It’s small, cute, stylish. In essence it’s a lifestyle car. Audi’s A3 Sportback is a great small car with all the concentrated goodness of a much larger one. It’’s not just a little more than a 5-door version of the 3-door A3 but it’s ‘styled’' differently and geared towards the ‘lifestyle’ end of the premium compact market.
The Audi A3 Sportback is designed with easy accessibility and although you may think it’s small, it has 30 litres more luggage room over the three–door model, 83mm increase in body length and extra wide opening rear doors. It‘s good to know Quattro four wheel drive is also offered on certain variants.
The A3’s new exterior with it’s tweaked front wings , shapelier grille, and sharper-looking headlights and side repeaters some of the new highlights in the new model. In fact, the S line variant even has LED daytime running lights.
The interior too has gone through some tweaking. The new model has more aluminium design elements, revised switchgear, a better quality instrument cluster and a rethink for the upholstery choices.
Audi lovers can opt for a myriad of engine types. Most people opt for the turbocharged TFSI engines: either the 125bhp 1.4, the 160bhp 1.8 or the 200bhp 2.0-litre unit. Petrol buyers get a 102bhp 1.6 at the foot of the range.
The way the A3 drives has always been pretty impressive, as we know it. The quality of the driving experience is amazing especially with using some high-tech features, one of them being the Audi magnetic ride. Adaptive action shock absorbers filled with a magneto rheological fluid allow the driver to choose between a comfort-oriented normal mode and a tauter sport mode at the touch of a button.
The S tronic gearbox is a teaser. This system can mimic a full automatic gearbox or the driver can make gearchanges at lightning speed using shift paddles mounted behind the steering wheel.
Standard safety equipment includes window airbags, electronic stability control, ABS, brake assist, a part-electric power steering system and anti-whiplash head restraints.
The cabin has been restyled to offer a little more design flair. The fascia struts are beautifully executed, aping the interior design of the TT as do the round air vents and chrome-rimmed dials.
The A3 Sportback range is available in standard, SE and Sport trims with the S-line upgrade pack to consider. An optional Open Sky twin sunroof system is also available for order.
The A3 Sportback is stylish, sleek, and cute. Most Audi lovers would appreciate the great small car with all the concentrated goodness of a larger car with the premium that it offers. A car with a sporty look, and stylish features, and the spacious headroom is definitely a hit amongst car enthusiast who eye for a contemporary look. The Audi’s rating is impressive. The Audi got a 4 star rating for performance, build, style and equipment.
In essence, it’s a good lifestyle car. Needless to say, the A3 Sportback is a good car to eye for.
