Previously, the BMW made a 3 Series Coupe, the E46 generation. As usual, it was good to drive but it was not interesting. It was simply forgettable. Now, there is a new replacement which BMW hopes to change everything: the E90 generation.
We are used to seeing BMW's designs to be rather unique, sometimes a hit and sometimes a miss. But with this new 3 Series Coupe Range it seems that they made it right. A car drool-worthy as this cannot be seen everywhere. The silhouette also changed, it is now lower and a little more elongated that gives off an elegant feel; elegant but still muscular that men wouldn't be turned off by its appearance. Other words to describe this beauty are: sleek, taut and boasting. Descriptions you can't give to the older version. Now you can think of buying this car for its beauty alone but it is not only the things good about it.
The kidney grilles have a cleaner and simpler look in front and the headlamp is also better. The rear has horizontal LED rods on broad tail light clusters. If you tap the front wings you'll hear the thud of the plastic rather than the clang of steel. It has used the traditional method of tailored blanks as well as plastic in order to lessen the weight of the 3 Series Coupe.
Other than the lighter weight it also comes with more powerful engines like the 320i which you cana buy for £26,000 and then the 272bhp 330i. Next to that is the 218bhp of the 325i. At the top of the line is the M3 but not to be overlooked is the 306bhp 335i. It marks BMW's first petrol unit with turbocharger.
In just 5.5 seconds it goes from zero to 60mph with the 335i. The maximum speed is electronically limited to 155mph. This car is a 3.0-liter powerplant with twin turbochargers and three cylinders. Though it uses a small turbo it still can replicate the progressive power output of a big, normally-aspirated powerplant.
The 3 Series Coupe Range uses the Piezo fuel injectors-which sprays carefully calibrated bursts of fuel mist into cylinders either at or near openings to the combustion chambers-to help the 335Ci to have a combined fuel economy value of 31mpg. This is only 5mpg more than the Audi A4 3.2 with its FSI engine and also generates 50bhp less than this Coupe.
The entry level 2.5-liter petrol can even reach 60mph in 6.6 seconds from a standstill and has a top speed of 155moh. Its fuel economy is at 39.8mpg thanks to its Valvetronic technology and EfficientDynamics program. For an upgrade just add £3,000 and you can have a 0-60mph acceleration in 6 seconds flat and with the same max speed figure but still manage a 39.2mpg fuel economy. With the diesels, the 330d has a 231bhp and 500Nm of torque and still get a return of 46.3mpg but still get to sixty from zero in just 6.6 seconds. Next is the 335d with 285bhp with massive reserve of torque and runs on lower costs. You can select either the SE or M Sport specifications. If you buy an M3 then you get the latter for free.
This range will certainly climb atop the ladder with costumers already drooling at thought of buying this.
