Previously, cars are all about its speed, handling and which produces the most power. Now things are different. Even younger, cool-looking men are boasting on whose car is greener, whose car is cleaner, who's more efficient. That is why BMW's 316d is taking the throne.
The entry-level diesel of the 3 Series is the 316d though it has the same basics as that of the 318d both have the 2.0-liter diesels with four cylinders. But it only produces 116bhp and has 260Nm of torque. Its engine is not remarkable, not even going to sixty in 10.9 seconds. But the fuel economy of this car is unbelievable.
It has little improvisations from the previous series. Some of it is not noticeable because of its insignificant size. Improvements can be seen on its bonnets, grille, rear light clusters and side skirts. The interior almost looks the same but it has an updated iDrive control interface. It also has a memory of 8 gigabytes for the music which can house up to 100 albums. Another enhancement would be the quality of trim materials.
The available size of this car is 460 liters and can accommodate even a six-footer behind its wheel. Adult passengers can also be given room in the rear seats. Though the cabin lacks classic detailing and quality materials but its build quality is still solid. This model is only offered in ES saloon trim with equipment list that includes air-conditioning, alloy wheels, a CD stereo (with MP3 player connector), multi-function leather steering wheel and front fog lights. They come with a six-speed manual gearbox. For safety purposes it has six airbags with ISOFIX child seat mounts at both front and rear. It lessens the damage by moving forward 60mm when there is a crash detected.
With its full suite of EfficientDynamics program, it can maximize its resources without damaging its performance or handling. Because of this and its low price, certainly there are lots costumers willing to buy and saving up for this car. It has an unbelievable fuel consumption of 62.8mpg and emits 118g/km of carbon dioxide. These values can only be found in superminis with 1.4 liter engines. Thankfully, they were able to put these figures on a compact executive estate car. This is really a big saver and surely this is a good choice. Its low emissions mean tax benefits and economy amounts to lower mileage.
On the road, it would only cost you its weight distribution not the perfect 50:5023,330 to get this kind of car. Its dimensions are 4,520m, 1,817mm and 1,424mm as length, width and height.
This car appeals to drivers because of its performance and efficiency. You can certainly save if you choose this and it has a host of other appealing characters like carrying capacity, nice exterior as well as interior and beautiful engineering.
Because of this car, eventually manufacturers would follow BMW's path in producing more efficient cars. It won't stay above but it would definitely be worth buying. It's cheap, affordable, performs well and has great efficiency.
