BMW has incorporated some of its newest technology in the newly released 525i. The 2.5 liter six cylinder Valvetronic is accompanied by the inclusion of BMW's Brake Energy Regeneration which is a key component of their Efficient Dynamics that delivers more power for less fuel in a lower weighing vehicle. The car uses an alternator that was specifically designed to enhance engine performance during the overrun or under braking cycles to make it a more efficient automobile. BMW has also improved the engine performance by incorporating High Precision Fuel Injection. This enhancement allows the 525i to produce 218bhp with a torque level of 270Nm, this will allow for the 525i to go from 0-62 in a mere 7.1 seconds and tops out at a max speed of 154mph which produces 38.2mpg.
BMW also offers the addition of the + version of their Dynamic Stability Control System as a standard option in the 525i. This improved version offers five additional features not found in the previous version; Brake Standby, Rain Brake Support, Hill Start Assist and Fading Compensation and Soft Stop. These options not found in the standard system allow the driver an extra sense of control and a greater sense of security.
There have also been some changes made to the shape of the 5 Series, BMW has changed to clear glass on the headlights and turn signals and the kidney shaped grill now sits flush with the bumper. The air duct in the rear has been changed and there are now horizontal LEDs in the brake lights. Improvements have also been made to the interior with redesigned door panels and window switches; there is also the programmable favorites buttons on the dashboard that allows drivers the freedom of not having to use the iDrive system as much as in previous models. There is also the option of a Lane Departure warning system that many drivers may feel is money well spent.
There are also some other noteworthy options available for the 525i. Dynamic Drive, which is an active suspension system, and Active Cruise Control which automatically measures and controls distances between you and the car in front is also available. There are also features that BMW has included such as their Brake Force Display which enlarges the brake light area in relation to the amount of force the driver is applying; there is also Adaptive Headlight which allows the headlights to swivel up to 15 degrees to the left and right to provide a larger illuminated view of the road.
The 525i offers a six-speed manual transmission, air conditioning, Parking Distance Control and 17? alloy wheels, electrically adjustable seats and Brake Force Display as standard options in the basic model. If you feel the need for more options you may want to upgrade to M Sport level and you will receive an upgrading styling package which has wider air intakes, larger wheels, a sports suspension and flared sides. Whichever option you choose, there is little chance of feeling disappointed with your decision.
