The BMW 6 Series Convertible is somewhat larger than what many have come to think of as a true convertible. But once you take one for a drive all those misconceptions are thrown out the window. The BMW 6 Series Convertible is equipped with a fabric top that disappears from view in 20 seconds. The driver is able to raise or lower the top while the vehicle is in motion and going 20mph or less which is rather impressive, many driver would fear that their top would be torn away if they tried to raise or lower it while the car was moving.

BMW has also made some enhancements to the design of the exterior of the 6 Series Convertible. The have replaced the headlights with LED lights that form a thin row of lights above the main headlight. They have also redesigned the air intakes and the rear bumper has been redesigned to give the impression of larger width. BMW has also seen fit to provide polyurethane foam in between the rubberized outer shell and the surface of the inner hood fabric.

The designers at BMW have produced a vehicle that has little to no wind noise and you won't have to worry about leaks when you go through the car wash. The design of the car directs airflow away from the passenger side of the car and if you drive over 100mph your passenger will experience very little disturbance from air flow reaching the inside of the vehicle. When the roof is up the trunk offers 350 liters of storage space and when you lower the top you only lose 50 liters of space.

The 6 Series engines are petrol powered and feature BMW's Efficient Dynamics technology. The 630i produces 272bhp through a 6 cylinder unit that can go from 0-60 in about six seconds and averages 34.0mpg. The 4.8 liter V8 version averages 22.4mpg and can achieve 60mph in only 5.5 seconds. BMW also offers the option of adding a sports package on 6 Series models that improve the driving dynamics and makes the car look sportier. The sports package offers a contoured roof, 19-inch light alloy wheels and anti-roll stabilization for improved handling. Brushed aluminum interior and extended lighting are also included in the sports package.

If you prefer diesel powered engines then the 635d is perfect for you. It is equipped with a 3.0 liter twin-turbo and can go from 0-60 in 6.6 seconds. An impressive 580Nm of torque is achieved at only 1,750rpm. The 635d tops out at a predetermined max speed of 155mph and averages 39.2mpg on the combined cycle.

BMW offers their Dynamic Drive system as an option that many drivers will opt for. It automatically builds up counter forces on the anti-roll bars, and eliminates any body roll while taking corners. Essential functions are conveniently located in or around the steering wheel which allows the driver to focus on the road. The BMW 6 Series Convertible is a well-designed and impressive automobile that any driver will enjoy operating.
