The BMW 650i has been designed to offer the driver comfort and power in an appealing body. The 650i is available in either a Coupe of Convertible version with the choice of standard of sport trim with the option of adding an extra sports package which gives the driver a more dynamic driving experience while giving a sportier feel to the 650i. Whichever version you decide on, BMW has designed the 650i so that every version of the car is as appealing as the others.
BMW has made a few improvements to the exterior of the 650i. They have decided to incorporate LED powered headlights, which is becoming more expected from cars in this class. The headlights feature a thin row of lights placed above the main headlight. They have also redesigned the air intakes and have designed the rear bumper to give the impression that the 650i actually wider than it really is.
The 650i features a petrol powered V8 engine which produces 367bhp and 361lb/ft. of torque. This engine offers the driver muscle and power that makes driving it all the more enjoyable. The engine is constructed of aluminum and features the double-VANOS and VALVETRONIC systems. All of this technology allows for the 650i going from 0-60 in 5.1 seconds if you're driving the Coupe and 5.5 seconds if you're in the Convertible version. The incorporation of BMW's EfficientDynamics technology allows for the 650i to achieve excellent fuel economy while producing little emissions. The 650i Coupe version averages 24.1mpg and emits 310g/km of CO2.
BMW offers their Dynamic Drive system as an option. This system automatically increases counter forces on the car's anti-roll bars which virtually eliminates any noticeable body roll while the driver is cornering. The option of adding Active Steering, which varies the steering ration in accordance to the speed, is also available. This system will make turning a bit easier for the driver, it allows for the driver to make a 90 degree turn while barely turning the steering wheel. This system may require some getting used to, but is becoming increasingly popular among BMW buyers.
Many important operating functions can now be accessed from the steering wheel, which makes it much easier for the driver. BMW has also installed the iDrive system which allows the driver ease of access from the iDrive control. There have also been some enhancements made to the options list that many BMW drivers are accustomed to, such as, the new High Beam Assist that adjusts the brightness of the headlights depending on oncoming traffic.
If you choose the Convertible option of the 650i, you will notice that the top isn't a hard top version that many other car companies are using, instead the 650i features a more traditional fabric top which can disappear in less than twenty seconds. BMW has also designed the top to go down while the car is in motion as long as it doesn't go over 20mph. The top is powered by six hydraulic cylinders that guide the top into its storage space. By using a fabric top, there is not much storage space lost while the top is in the down position.
