BMW's M3 has everything that many buyers are looking for, the powerful engine that BMW is known for, the fun and beauty of a well designed convertible and comfort. BMW offers prospective buyers the choice of a six-speed manual transmission and seven-speed M DCT Double Clutch Transmission with Drivelogic. The M DCT allows for the M3 to go from 0-62mph in 5.1 seconds and tops out at a predetermined 155mph. The M DCT also includes a gradient detection system that prevents roll back on hill starts and a Low Speed Assistant which smoothes out the power delivery when pulling away gently.
The exterior features twin intakes on the hood accompanied by three large air ducts located in the front spoiler. The convertible top of the M3 is not a fabric top like those in other models, it is hard and enhances the coupe like look of the M3, and the roof is a three piece unit which allows for easier storage. The M3 is also equipped with 18-inch alloys with the option of upgrading the larger 19-inch rims. The interior features sun reflective leather which allows for the driver to leave the top down without risking that horrible burning sensation. The designers of the M3 have incorporated an induction system which features an oscillating tube that is fed by eight lightweight intake funnels which makes the car much quieter than other convertibles while driving. The M3 also features an attention grabbing exhaust that will definitely attract the attention of anyone who is in range to hear it.
BMW has also included their Efficient Dynamics program that helps keep the running costs low, the Brake Energy Regeneration system which uses energy that typically would have been wasted to charge the battery. By using this system it reduces alternator drag and improves economy. BMW reports that the M3 averages 21.9mpg in the manual version and 23mpg if have chosen the M DCT transmission and produces 293g/km of carbon dioxide emissions. These numbers may not impress everyone, but for a car of this magnitude and engine that is capable of producing all the power any driver could ever want, they are actually rather impressive.
BMW has developed an automobile that is better suited to attract its target market. The M3 is a more polished and well designed model than those that came before. BMW has included many safety systems that will help keep the driver and their passengers safe while enjoying everything that the M3 has to offer. The well designed hard top makes the task of lowering and raising it so much easier than other cars on the market. BMW has taken everything in their arsenal and loaded it into the M3 providing the driver with all of the technological advances BMW is known for and not skimping on any of the safety options. The M3 is well worth the investment and every driver who is lucky enough to own one will thoroughly enjoy the experience and anyone who sees one on the road will definitely be in awe of this car.
