Cadillac has designed a well detailed and aesthetically pleasing vehicle in the STS. This is a sedan that many fans of Cadillac have waited for, with new technology installed and a newly redesigned engine the STS is ready to compete among other cars in the same class. Cadillac offers two engine choices, a 315PS V6 and a 330PS V8. Both versions provide the driver with ample power and may leave some feeling that the engine might be capable of producing more.
The V8 version of the engine provides the driver with the sense of power just waiting to be cut loose. With all of the power the V8 produces, one might expect a better feeling steering system than the one Cadillac has provided. Some drivers have said that the steering of the STS feels a bit pointy and remote while others say it feels numb and uninvolving. Cadillac may want to invest some more time in the design of an improved steering system.
The V8 version of the STS is equipped with Cadillac's Magnetic Ride Control or MRC system. This system allows the driver the ability to choose Performance or Touring mode which electronically controls one of the world's fastest-reacting real-time active suspension systems. A revolutionary set of sensors monitors and adjusts the stiffness of the dampers in order to reduce roll when cornering and braking, this system also provides Cadillac's exceptionally responsive handling that has become one of their best features.
The interior of the STS is very inviting to drivers. Cadillac offers an equipment and trim package called Sport Luxury which features quality materials throughout the car. The STS features African Sapele Pommele wood accents on the steering wheel, gear shift, center console, instrument panel and as trim on the door panels. The seats are covered in leather which is specially designed for a softer feel. Standard equipment in the STS includes full leather upholstery and eight way power seats for both the driver and front passenger. The driver and front passenger seats are also heated and ventilated and come with the option of a four-way power lumbar adjustment. Cadillac has also installed a 15 speaker Bose Surround Sound system with a six-disc CD/DVD changer.
Aside from the steering system that may be a bit lacking, the STS rides and handles like many fans of Cadillac have come to expect. The V8 version of the STS is able to go from 0-60 in an impressive 6.2 seconds and Cadillac has installed a braking system that can stop all of the power the V8 can muster. Cadillac has designed a car that provides the driver with the power to get up and go and the technology to control that speed once it is produced. The Cadillac STS may leave something to be desired in the steering department but makes up for it in the options and safety features that are installed in the STS. The STS definitely lives up to the reputation and design that Cadillac has become known for throughout their many years.
