Icon - The name says it all!
Based on the Chevrolet Captiva LS model and considered the ?Special Edition? of the Captiva model, the Ikon was introduced as an enhanced version of the already powerful, fully equipped vehicle. The Ikon includes additional pieces including 20-inch alloy wheels, side steps, privacy glass and a chrome exhaust tailpipe. Buyers can choose between the 2.4 petrol model, with prices starting from $15,995 or the 2.0-litre diesel, which starts at $16,995.
With amazing value for the money, the front-wheel drive Ikon comes with all of the features of a large SUV, for half the cost. For families who need growing room to accommodate their increasing families, the Ikon is the most economical choice. And you no longer have to sacrifice style for practicality, since the Ikon's streamlined exterior is sporty and elegant at the same time. And thanks to the 4x4 features and the MacPherson strut suspension, you will enjoy the smooth ride that a smaller vehicle provides, but with all the power of a durable SUV.
While both engines are tend to be noisy when driven hard, the diesel's extra torque of the diesel is worth the slight difference in noise level compared to other vehicles of a similar size. And with its sporty accessories, the Ikon truly impresses on the road thanks to its 20-inch alloy wheels, darkened privacy glass, and sleek appearance despite its interior spaciousness. While comparable in size and appearance to the Toyota RAV4 or Suzuki Grand Vitara, the Ikon is a much sturdier piece of work with its 4,639mm length that far exceeds the 4,415 length of the Toyota or the 4,470mm of the Suzuki. And while the Ikon model only comes in five-seater form, a generous boot is positioned in the rear for a substantial amount of storage that many seven-seater vehicles lack.
With countless features such as air-conditioning, electric windows, remote central locking, electric door mirrors and a CD stereo with controls on the steering wheel, the Ikon is certainly not lacking in quality or utility. And, even with the added $3,000 of accessories added to the Ikon, it is still $1,000 cheaper than the petrol LS and $1,400 less than the diesel option.
In this economic climate, drivers are always concerned about the cost of their vehicles after they purchase the car of their dreams. What kind of mileage will I get, and how much will fuel cost? Fortunetaly, the petrol model Captiva gets 31mpgm while the diesel runs at around or 37mpg. At the same time, emissions for the two engines are 217g/km and 197g/km respectively. Though the oil-burner is considerably more expensive, it also the more frequent buyer choice due to greater durability and stronger market residuals
Ultimately, the Ikon is your choice if what you want is a front wheel-drive machine with and a five-seat layout, more boot space, and attractive interior that balances a sporty, rugged exterior. Whether you're looking for a reasonably priced family car for local driving or a larger vehicle for long-distance trips, the Ikon will offer you all the comfort and safety features that have defines Chevrolet for decades throughout the world.
