Buyers have many choices when it comes to choosing delivery vehicles for their business; Citroen has designed a series that should help make that decision easier. The Berlingo L2 Vans offer efficiency, space and comfort for their drivers and now their passengers. The L2's now feature an extra row of seating to accommodate any extra workers needed on any given day, and when they are not needed they can easily be folded up to provide extra storage space.
Many automobile manufacturers now design commercial vehicles along with their more popular car lines. Where many see this line of vehicles as secondary, Citroen has jumped on it wholeheartedly and is among the most popular commercial vehicles available. In Europe, one out of seven commercial vehicles is a Citroen. This has only added to their popularity and has reinforced their dedication to the commercial vehicle market.
The Berlingo L2's come equipped with a 90bhp 1.6 liter HDi engine that can deliver 215Nm of torque at only 1,750rpm. The newer models in the L2 line weigh in at 2,130kg which is approximately 200kg more than the original models. The added weight does not help in the performance area of the L2, but the powerful torque helps the L2 overcome its shortcomings in that area. The extra weight seems not to interfere with the efficiency of the L2; it averages an impressive 48.5mpg.
Citroen has installed an independent front suspension system that features a transverse beam with angled shock absorbers in the rear and anti-roll bars at both ends. The L2 does leave something to be desired in its agility and response, but the maneuverability has been enhanced by adding an 11m turning circle. The design of the L2 makes for a very comfortable and quiet ride; road noises are minimal as are the engine noises while running.
Citroen has added an additional 250mm of load length to the L2. Where the L1 line had a storage capacity of 3,000mm the L2 now boasts 3,250mm. This added space allows the L2 to carry loads up to 2050mm with a volume of 3.7m3. This makes the L2 a rather impressive commercial vehicle. If the buyer feels that they may need even more space, the option of adding the EXTENSO passenger seat that can be folded down will then have a load length of 3250mm and it also increases the load volume from 3.7m3 to 4.1m.
The interior of the L2 features plenty of space for a driver and passenger to sit comfortably. The only problem comes when buyers choose the three seat model for the front. There is little space for a third person and the dash mounted gear lever makes it nearly impossible for anyone to sit in the middle and be comfortable. If you require more seating space, choose the rear seating system, this will allow for extra passengers and will allow them to be comfortable.
There are two trim levels available to choose from, the X and LX. Standard equipment on the L2 features ABS brakes, trip computer, CD stereo, electric front windows and adjustable door mirrors. Choosing the LX version will add remote central locking, heated mirrors and a temperature sensor. Citroen has designed a well performing and efficient commercial vehicle in the Berlingo L2 Van.
