Citroen's Berlingo Van, which was first introduced in 1996, has become one of its most popular vehicles. The latest edition should be no different; Citroen has updated the styling and design to offer buyers more space and a more modern looking design. Where many automobile manufacturers devote most of their time and development to their more popular car lines, Citroen hasn't lost their focus when it comes to producing a well-designed commercial vehicle. This devotion is what has helped them to maintain their popularity among commercial shoppers.

Citroen has equipped their Berlingo Vans with a 16 liter HDi diesel engine. It provides the driver with 75bhp and a torque level of 185Nm at only 1,750rpm. If you prefer a bit more power you may opt for the alternate version which produces 90bhp and 215Nm of torque at the same rpm level. The newer models of the Berlingo Van weigh in at 200kg more than the previous model. The extra weight has an impact on the performance of the Berlingo Van, but the power provided by the torque level allows for the driver to have all the pulling power they may need.

Not only is the Berlingo Van roomy, it is also rather efficient. You can expect to average 48.5mpg in the diesel version and 34.5mpg in the petrol powered version. Citroen has installed an independent front suspension and a transverse beam with angled shock absorbers in the rear. Although the newer version doesn't offer the driver the agility and response that the previous model did, they have included an 11m turning circle that helps the driver maneuver the Berlingo Van more easily. There is also little noise interference from the road or engine in the latest model which makes for a much more pleasant ride.

Citroen offers buyers the choice of two Berlingo body styles to choose from. They are both on a 2,728mm wheelbase but the L2 version is 248mm longer. The larger wheel base provides enough room for the L1 to measure 4,380mm in length. Storage capacity ranges from 625kg to 850kg in the L1 model and 750kg in the L2 version which is quite impressive for a van of this size.

The interior of the Berlingo Van features plenty of room for the driver and passenger. There is also the option of adding a three seat model, but this model presents some problems. With the location of the gear shift and the lack of legroom for the middle seat, it is virtually useless. The design of the interior is more favorable to the two seat version than the three. The major benefit of choosing the Extenso cabin is the ability to fold the passenger seat down to increase storage space. While certain options may have their limitations, Citroen has once again designed a functional and roomy commercial vehicle that has been improved and features many of the options you wouldn't expect to find in a commercial vehicle of this nature.
