Over the years automaker Citroen went from being known for sophisticated automobiles then went through some struggles with being a rather pedestrian line of vehicles. As we moved out of the twentieth century and into the twenty-first century Citroen is trying to reinvent itself with cars that rank best in their classes. The launch of the new Citroen C2 1.4-litre petrol shows that they are well on their way to success with that strategy.

The C2 feels most at home in the midst of normal urban mayhem; however the 1.4-litre engine gives it the workings to take on far longer journeys. The C2 1.4-litre will get off the line up to 60mph in about 13.9 seconds and top out at a high speed of 105mph.

With the petrol powered 1.4-litre engine in the C2 one can expect to get 35mpg in the city with around 57.6mpg on the open road which combines to give an estimated 47mpg combined city and open road mileage. These are great numbers for a car that actually has a little bit of power under the bonnet.

Even though most consumers don't look at cars like the C2 for their roominess, Citroen did a great job of maximizing the interior space to give enough room to seat 4 comfortably. The interior also offers upgraded styling with high-end plastics, funkier ventilation system, bar rev counter, silver detailing around the gauge mounting and a wide range of color choices that include both monotone and two-tone options. All the C2 versions come with adjustable rack and reach steering columns. There is also a beverage holder as well s spacious door bins that will fit up to a 500ml bottle.

The standard C2 comes with a roomy back seat area that will fit most adults comfortably, though taller adults might feel a tad bit cramped in the head room department. Overall most people will not be apt to complain about the roominess throughout the C2. The backseats individually fold, recline, slide and tumble to allow the driver options for the various cargo needs.

One of the nicer aspects of the C2 is that Citroen is very clear that this is a four person car and nothing more. They utilize sculpted back seats to give the 2 rear passengers comfort and they avoid adding the third shoulder strap all together.

The C2 shares a chassis with the C3; however there is a difference in the exterior between the two cars. They share a similarly shaped bulbous nose with the C2 attaching a far edgier, angular back end. Some may argue that the C2 is basically the C3 front end with a different back end fused at the door posts. The C2 is more distinctive than that. The side windows use a staggered line with the rear sticks out very purposely. The newer models are very easy to identify with their slick, clear section tail-light cluster.

A number of safety features come standard on the Citroen C2 that include twin front side airbags, ABS brakes and power assisted steering. Cost upgrades available include automatic wipers, rear parking sensors, folding rear mirrors and automatic headlamps.

When all is said and done the C2 1.4-litre petrol delivers nice performance, a stylish exterior and good gas consumption.
