Corvette Z06 - Affordable Performance
The Corvette Z06 costs more than the cheapest submini out there; there is no doubt about that. It takes a person with a certain amount of disposable income to purchase a sports car of any kind. That being said, if a buyer is already decided on a sports car, the Corvette Z06 offers an affordable solution. The exciting news is that you do not have to give up performance to get the great savings.
On first examination, the Corvette Z06 shows the classic, bold appearance it is famous for, if perhaps a little more subtle than in the past. The body has been lightened up through many changes in materials and engineering, but these changes do not change the sportiness of the Z06. The body still presents an excellent package for a powerhouse of a sports car, as well it should.
The engine of the Corvette Z06 is a 7.01-liter V8 that makes an impressive showing in specs. It reaches 62 from a standing stop in just 3.9 seconds, a thrilling ride if the driver can manage it. The top speed is 198mph, and enthusiastic drivers will search long and hard to find a suitable place to achieve that velocity. The engine puts out an enormous 512bhp and the Corvette Z06 gets torque of an incredible 637Nm. Many sports car fans would pay a very large sum for that kind of performance.
The Corvette Z06 gets a 6-speed manual transmission. This car comes with an SLA double wishbone suspension. There are safety features as well, with all-speed traction control, an Active Handling system, ABS brakes, seatbelts, airbags, and a tire pressure monitoring system.
A luxury package is available for those who do not mind spending more on the Z06. It includes heated front seats, a Bose sound system, head-up display, a steering column which telescopes with memory, and even a G-force meter. These extras do drive the cost up, but drivers may consider that many of these features are also optional on the higher priced sports cars as well. The savings are still there overall.
The seats of the Z06 are leather, and there is leather wrap elsewhere inside the car. Chrome also makes an appearance in the interior. The exterior is classic Corvette, but perhaps a little subdued and refined. The usual effect of a Corvette is a flashy, showy and exciting machine. The Z06 only tones that image down a little bit, and still manages to make Corvette fans very happy.
The Corvette Z06 has all the performance a sports car needs. It is fast enough and powerful enough to please even drivers who have had much more expensive sports cars in the past. The fact that it is affordable should not scare buyers away. It does not mean the car is any less exhilarating to drive. It just means that Chevrolet has not made it an exclusive enough brand to be expensive. For buyers who choose the Corvette Z06, the less prestigious brand just means more money in their pockets.
