Sirion SE+ - Loaded Mini

Our Rating: No Rating Available

The new Daihatsu Sirion Se+ is a smart choice of cars, but it is also a pleasure to own and drive. Daihatsu has come up with a fuel efficient car that also has a little kick in its performance. The SE+ package provides an excellent finish to an already appealing value car.

The engine of the SE+ is a 1.0-litre petrol engine, but it is powerful for its size. It is a three-cylinder, 12-valve unit with Dynamic Variable Valve Timing to improve its power and economy specs. The maximum power output is 69.3 PS at 6,000rpm, and it has 69.3 lb ft of torque available at 3,600rpm.The Daihatsu Sirion SE+ 1.0-litre engine manages much better on the highway than might be expected, and it is ideal in the city.

The top speed of the Sirion SE+ is 99.4mph - plenty fast enough within the city and adequate on the road out of town as well. It is not a speedster; in fact, it takes 13.5 seconds to get from a stop to 60mph. However, as long as you are using the Sirion SE+ for a city car, that figure is fairly academic. You will rarely need more launch speed in the urban areas, anyway. Fuel consumption is low, at 56.5mpg in combined driving, but you will probably use it most in the city, where fuel consumption is more like 46.3mpg. CO2 emissions are outstanding, at 118g/kg.

What makes the Sirion SE+ so special is that it is even more fully loaded than the already well-equipped standard Sirion models. The SE+ has rain-sensing features, an electric sunroof, and leather on the steering wheel and gear knob. At a price of about £9,670, the Sirion SE+ is a great choice for someone who needs the economy of a less expensive car but does not want to give up all the finer things in life.

All of the Sirion's come standard with air conditioning, a radio and CD sound system, electric windows and remote central locking. Safety features include front and side airbags along with 3-point safety belts. The brakes pass the safety grade as well, with ABS with electronic brake distribution.

All of the cars in the Daihatsu Sirion Range have roomy interiors, and the Sirion SE+ is no different. Five full grown adults can fit easily inside the car without being squeezed into pretzels. The exterior of the Daihatsu Sirion SE+ has its own unique charm. The body style is just right for a runabout city car. It also rides nicely because of an improved rear suspension and excellently light steering. It has a tight turning circle and the maneuverability is phenomenal, as befits a car to be used in the small spaces afforded it in the urban landscape.

People who want a little extra in a mini city car will appreciate the benefits of the Daihatsu Sirion Se+. It is a very economically priced car, both to purchase and maintain. It has an interesting shape and design. Its engine's performance is not half bad for a city car. Most of all, the Sirion SE+ is a car that makes city driving comfortable and enjoyable.
