Family Hatch with Safety and Performance

Our Rating: No Rating Available

Families looking for a hatchback used to have a lot to choose from that included a sorted bunch of low powered engine choices. However; all that has changed with the recent addition of some upgraded petrol-powered Fiat Bravos.

In the past the best you could get in a Fiat would have been a 1.4-litre petrol powered engine that ran on 89bhp, but now people looking for a family hatchback with some punch can opt for one of the two new 1.4-litre turbocharged T-Jet variants. The T-Jet engines can be had with either 118bhp or 148bhp. We are going to focus on the engine that gives a whopping 148bhp which Fiat dubs the ?1.4 T-Jet 150?.

Fiat can be proud of itself for putting a sporty hatchback on the road that offers a nice engine package while keeping the costs down. The Fiat Bravo 1.4-litre T-Jet 150 can be had for between £13,000 and £14,000 depending on if you choose the Dynamic or Active trim level. That means the 148bhp Bravo T-Jet 150 can be had for around £2,000 less than a Ford Focus that gives just an extra 2bhp. Of course the Bravo doesn't ride as nice as the Ford Focus, but it looks a lot more dashing, costs less and will satisfy most drivers.

Who is going to be upset about a family-aimed hatchback that gets from 0-60mph in 8.5 seconds? Or can top the speed chart at 130mph? All while getting an estimated 32mpg with emissions of 137g/km. Those numbers put it close to delivering the same performance of a 2.0-litre while getting the economy of a 1.4-litre engine.

The Fiat Bravo 1.4-litre T-Jet 150 has a decent amount of torque in it that makes for a nice driving experience. The car comes with a six-speed manual gearbox along with Fiats Dualdrive electrical power assist steering. This allows the driver to change between two power steering settings depending on where they are driving.

Styling on the exterior of the Fiat Bravo 1.4-litre T-Jet 150 has been upgraded from earlier models. Most people looking for a family hatch will be pleasantly surprised at the sporty vision that is the Fiat Bravo.

The interior has been designed with an easy to use control panel and brightly finished plastics. The interior has a luxurious quality to it that includes upgraded soft-touch plastics on the dashboard that many would not expect in a family-aimed car. If you were dropped inside you might think you were in a much more expensive car.

Fiat has armed the car with a bevy of safety features to keep your loved ones safe. The Bravo comes standard with two front airbags, two front side airbags, two window airbags and a knee airbag for the driver. The Bravo has anti-lock brakes with electronic brakeforce distribution and the latest version of the ESP stability control system. The ESP system has a function that includes an anti-slip regulator that will limit wheel spin in wet or icy conditions. The Bravo has been given a five-start Euro NCAP crash test rating.

With features that will please parents who want for a good driving car with the need to keep their kids safe, the Fiat Bravo 1.4-litre T-Jet 150 is a great choice. The car offers a top of the class driving experience that is built to withstand all dangers and won't break the bank.
