Usually people looking for a family hatchback need a car that is good value, is nicely equipped, looks nice, gets good fuel mileage and delivers decent performance. Many times to get a car that meets the good value check box one has to sacrifice one of the other wants. Fortunately for people who don't want to give up anything Fiat has given them the Bravo with a 2.0-litre diesel-powered MultiJet under the bonnet
The best thing about the 2.0-litre diesel-powered MultiJet option on the Fiat Bravo is that it is not only a greener engine it is also a more powerful engine. Along with the normal expected green items this engine comes suited with a diesel particulate filter (DPF) and has been type-approved to Euro 5 standards. Building on the old 1.9-litre Fiat has made improvements across the board to make the 2.0-litre a better performer, lower emissions and higher fuel mileage. The fuel use on the Bravo with the 2.0-litre runs a very nice estimated 53mpg combined with a tiny output of 139g/km CO2.
On the performance side, the Bravo 2.0-litre diesel-powered MultiJet, will take you from 0-62mph in just 8.2 seconds while topping out around 134mph. The torque output is impressive with a 360Nm which puts it in the sites of cars like the Subaru Impreza. This amount of torque will make it very easy to make passes when needed without fear of running out of road space. The steering column is equipped with Fiats Dualdrive electrical power assist steering. This allows the driver to change between two power steering settings depending on where they are driving.
The interior has been designed with an easy to use control panel and brightly finished plastics. The interior has a luxurious quality to it that includes upgraded soft-touch plastics on the dashboard that many would not expect in a family-aimed car. If you were dropped inside you might think you were in a much more expensive car.
Styling on the exterior of the Fiat Bravo 1.4-litre T-Jet 150 has been upgraded from earlier models. Most people looking for a family hatch will be pleasantly surprised at the sporty vision that is the Fiat Bravo.
Fiat has armed the car with a bevy of safety features to keep your loved ones safe. The Bravo has been given a five-start Euro NCAP crash test rating and comes standard with two front airbags, two front side airbags, two window airbags and a knee airbag for the driver. Under the hood the Bravo is fitted with anti-lock brakes with electronic brakeforce distribution and the latest version of the ESP stability control system. The ESP system has a function that includes an anti-slip regulator that will limit wheel spin in wet or icy conditions.
This version of the Bravo is only being offered in the Sport trim package as a 5-door hatch. With this fact in mind there is no other car in this class that is this well equipped for a better value. Even with the powerful 2.0-litre diesel powered MultiJet under the bonnet the cost is far less than the similarly capable Ford Focus TDCi.
