Ford set out with to deliver a vehicle that was top of its class when it re-launched the Focus ST. It seem as though they have succeeded at delivering a quality car with a nice exterior and performance under the hood. Car enthusiasts who are looking for a nice looking, quick car without breaking the bank will be more than pleased with the new Focus ST.

The Focus ST comes with a powerful 5-cylinder 222bhp turbo engine with excellent traction. The ST comes with traction control and the Ford engineered Electronic Stability Programme or as they like to called it ESP This combination will give a skilled drive the ability to whip around tracks while giving the newer or less skilled driver the confidence to take a turn harder than they had ever done before.

Ford claims that the ST will get around the Nurburgring twelve seconds faster than the older version of the Focus RS with a total time of 8 minutes and 35 seconds. The new RS however torches that with a lap of under 8 minutes. A skilled driver can take the ST from 0-60 in around 6.1 seconds which is only a few ticks slower than the RS and RS500. Pretty impressive indeed.

One of the few drawbacks of buying a car like the ST is that fuel consumption is not all that grand. The ST gets an average of 25.3mpg combined city/highway. Of course people don't buy cars like this for their daily commute. This car is best when it is performing.

Standard on all ST trim levels will be 18-inch alloy wheels, Recaro Sport Seats, a specially designed sport steering wheel, and upgraded instruments. The new ST has added a ?Ford Power? started button as well as the new Easyfuel cap free fuel system. The ST also comes in the ST-2 and ST-3 trim levels. With the ST-2 the buyer gets a Sony audio system, led rear lights, bi-xenon headlights and the Quickclear heated windshield. Upping to the ST-3 trim mode gets an in dash 6-CD changer plus an all leather interior. If all that isn't enough there is a load of high-tech upgrades available that include; Tire Deflation sensors, Bluetooth connectivity, voice controls and various navigation systems.

All this can be had starting at 20,495 pounds and topping out around 22,795 depending on the upgrades and trim levels. An excellent price considering that it is just as fun to drive as cars that run three times that amount.

The new version of the ST is certainly a car to be had by any budget minded car lover who likes to go fast while being able to take a turn without coming to a stop. At the end of the day many people will be more than impressed with this car. For people who like sexy interiors that are not over the top will be pleased with the ST. Drivers who like their racing-type cars to sound like cars not wind-up toys will love the racy noise that emits from the tailpipes. And enthusiast looking for something to better their friends will fall in love with the Focus ST.
