Power and Practicality
Our Rating: No Rating Available
The Ford Mondeo 2.0 Duratec Range is one of the best moderately priced vehicles around that offer power, performance, and practicality. This version offers more power than the 1.6 Ti-VCT which is one step down from this variety meaning that the only real difference between the two is that this one goes just a bit faster.
The interior can be described in plenty of different ways but one word that cannot be used to describe it is lacking. The Mondeo offers plenty of different trims that go from nice to classy but they all make absolutely sure that every one of them looks very nice. The massive amount of interior space will never get old and will prove to be a life saver in times when going on long trips requires more luggage than you would like to take. With plenty of features that make the driving experience even more enjoyable, the Mondeo also offers seven air bags and power everything.
When you see the Ford Mondeo for the first time, the aesthetic of the vehicle really strikes you as something both clean and luxurious. The lines that stream along the sides almost seem natural as though the Mondeo was created with sophistication by Mother Nature, herself. The front end works with plenty of trapezoidal shapes that at first seem to have some pretty sharp angles but when you give it a longer take end up actually being fairly rounded which is a nice trick to play on the eye. The outside of the vehicle does not exactly scream luxury but rather gives an air of being luxurious while speaking more toward being practical.
The power and performance side of the vehicle is really something that should be given more notice which can sometimes be a hard thing to do in a luxury car. The interesting thing about luxury cars is that they are automatically set up to make the owner, or potential buyer, notice all of the comforts and amenities while stealthily being a powerhouse under the hood. The Ford Mondeo comes with, among other options, the 2.0 Duratec offers a maximum speed of 130mph and getting from 0 to 60 in 9.7 seconds. This specific engine also gives a combined fuel economy of 35.8mpg while maintaining 189g/km of CO2 emissions, which is not exactly a lot but, at the same time, is not exactly the saving grace for the environment.
Overall, the Ford Mondeo 2.0 Duratec Range offers many of the same qualities as the lesser powered version, the 1.6 Ti-VCT, but with a slightly more powerful engine. Great practicality mixed with more power makes for a wonderful combination which is proven by how well the Ford Mondeo is balanced out. Ford has really outdone themselves with the Mondeo but they still have a single remaining problem which is the price. Coming in at around £16,000 to £22,000, the vehicle maker seems to think that the Mondeo is more luxurious than it is practical when it truly is the other way around. So, if you can get around the high sticker price then this may be the one for you.
