It seems like car manufacturing companies are always raising the definition of what car design and engineering is with every product release. They have been able to integrate new technology into practically every area of design from security, to navigational equipment, not to mention the advancement in the interior design as is the exterior.
Honda is certainly one of those automobile companies pushing the limit almost faster than most car buyers can keep pace with. This assessment is justifiable by simply taking a look at the Honda Accord Range, be it the Tourer version or Saloons stablemate; the design is nothing short of amazing.
Taking a look at the exterior, you will notice that there's been a lot of styling here and there. There is an inclusion of a wide chrome bar that runs across the front grille in the new Honda Range car that wasn't in previous ones. Fitted with side skirts, and stylishly moulded front and rear bumpers, the car's elegant stance is projected even more.
Honda Accord Range models come fully equipped with an outside temperature indicator, 3D dashboard illumination, alloy wheels, dual zone climate control, a 6-speaker CD-based stereo and front, side and curtain airbags are some feature in the SE Range. If you are driving the sports model, the upholstery design, cruise control technology, the rear spoiler, front fog lights and mesh grille stand out.
Design is taken steps further in the Executive models of the Range that features heated front seats and 8-way power adjustment for the driver's chair, gas discharge headlights, a 6 CD changer sophisticated leather trim.
The stability control system and DVD touch screen satellite navigation are inbuilt in some other models. In addition to the Stability Control System, the Honda Range is also fitted with the Vehicle Stability Assist (VAS) and Drive-By-Wire (DBW) throttle system. Handling the wheel of a Honda Range, it is observed that the steering nudges the car into the centre of its lane all by itself with the accelerator modulating itself. This is possible because of the Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) technology that helps keep a decent distance between the Range and the car in front. It is only short of self-cruising.
The ADAS works best when combined with the Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS). A digital camera is mounted at the top of the windscreen that helps the Lane Keeping Assist System exhibit what it was programmed to do. It generally helps keep the car on the right track even when your hand is off the steering wheel, though, not for so long.
The 2.2 i-CTDi diesel engine which generates 138bhp at 4,0000rpm is available in both the Saloon and the Tourer versions. It has an outstanding torque force of N340 making it a refined powerplant. It races from 0 to 60mph in just 9.2 seconds in the saloon and 9.9 in the Tourer.
On top of that, Accord Range is an environmental friendly car with a relatively low CO2 emission that is in compliance with the Euro IV regulations.
The space is no too impressive though but what cannot be ignored is the One Motion system for easy access of the space at the rear. To fold either seat section, you simply pull a lever forward the seat back lock are released and the headrest automatically flips forward both at the same time. Make further adjustments, pulling the back seat forward. With the headrest flipped forward, it comfortably clears the seat base.
Getting this car into your garage is as easy as creating space in the back base, so is the weight it will pull on your pocket.
