Executive Class Car with a Family Saloon Price

Our Rating: No Rating Available

Honda has never produced a car that could rival the German made executive cars and they technically still haven't. As everyone know Honda makes solid, dependable and respectable cars. There is not a car in their line-up that doesn't hold up to its end of the bargain. Some of the Honda line attracts huge numbers of loyal owners who buy the same car over and over and over. With the Honda Legend it is obvious that Honda really wants to compete with the German Companies.

The Honda Legend may very well be the car that starts to nick away at the German competition. It is not being said that the Legend can go head-to-head with the BMW 5 series, the Audi A6 or the Mercedes E-Class, but for the price of the bottom line of those cars one can have a fully-loaded Legend. This is going to make a lot people have to choose what is more important: the label in the bonnet or the feature inside?

One of the main attributes where the Legend beats the other executive car brands is that all the cars come standard with all-wheel drive. This all-wheel drive is also far more capable then many of the other cars in the class. Normally about 70% of the cars power can be sent to either the back axle or the front axle if the car senses that a corner has been taken too fast. Diverting the energy to the correct wheel will help keep the car under control. Honda has stepped up the game by making it possible for the car to put 70% of the power into one wheel. This little fact makes it nearly impossible to wreck the Legend by going too fast into a turn.

The Legend is also equipped with the normal ESP stability controls. Honda also offers several safety cost upgrades that include Lane-Keeping Assist and Collision-Mitigating Brake Systems. The Lane-Keeping System will alert a driver if the car is leaving the lane they are driving in to help protect against crashes caused by falling asleep at the wheel. The Crash-Mitigating System can sense when a crash is imminent and will tense up the seat belts and apply some brake to the car.

Only one engine is available in the Legend. The engine is a decently performing 3.5-litre 295bhp V6. It isn't the quickest engine in the class. It will get from 0-60mph in about 7.3 seconds. Gas consumption is the major drawback for Honda in not offering a diesel fuel engine. A driver of the Legend can expect to get about 16.6mpg urban, 31.7 motorway and 23.7 combined.

The overall style of the Legend isn't the sexiest in its class, but it is nice looking both inside and out. Some people have complained about the instruments being too hard to understand at first. The car comes with all the expected accoutrements one expects in an executive class car.

Mainly people are going to buy this car because of the fact that they can get everything they can find in a higher level car, but at a much better sticker price. Honda just seems to know what they need to make a car that people want without making it all flashy.
