The 2WD with the 4x4 Attitude
Our Rating: No Rating Available
Sport utility vehicles were originally created as the "poor man's" off road vehicle. They carried the distinctive 4x4 moniker like a badge of honor to be lorded over its lesser counterparts. In today's world, the need to have a vehicle that can cover the versatility of terrain a true 4x4 can is a bit out dated for most of us anyway. Look at it realistically. When was the last time you drove down a mountain path or picked your way along a muddy bog trying to avoid being sucked in? The likelihood of you answering with a resounding "yes" is slim to none.
It is true, our lives have become domesticated. We drive to almost every place me travel within a day and yet none of those locations take us seriously off the path carved by civilization. Is it not about time that our vehicle choices reflect that same domesticity? Now, don't worry; I'm not suggesting you pack up your trucks and sport utilities leaving them to a vehicle grave yard to rust and rot. I am merely saying that perhaps a vehicle that meets our desire for sporty styling with a little less power is in order. In fact, the new Hyundai Tucson 2WD may just have the right idea/
The Hyundai Tucson 2WD is a sport utility without the 4x4 off road standard, but that's okay. It meets our needs just fine in handling and power while lowering the price tag a significant amount. That initial savings will be put to good use seeing as the vehicle tends to be a bit heavier on fuel consumption than others, but it still gets a respectable twenty five to thirty five miles per gallon depending upon your traveling style. What it loses in fuel economy, it certainly makes up for in safety as the Hyundai brand carries some of the best safety ratings for vehicles of this class. Front, side, and curtain airbags are included to help protect your precious cargo should you encounter the unexpected. Speaking of cargo, despite having a somewhat compact design, you do not lose the space to carry whatever your load may be. The back area is still quite large in and of itself but should you desire a bit more room, the back seats fold down to give you just that much more room.
Moving around to the outside, we find that distinctive look the Hyundai brand has become known for with body molding and a stylish front grill. The alloy wheels add a touch of flash while the bumpers made to match the body color of your choosing add a little class, taking away a bit of the aggressiveness a sport utility can garner at first glance. It is one of those vehicles that simply looks ready to conquer the world and yet it is ready to do so by its own terms in the world of today.
Let's face it. The open road is not the path we travel on most frequently today, rather it's the streets and highways we call home. The need for a true 4x4 has diminished, but not our desire for the look or power. The Hyundai Tucson 2WD allows us to fulfill that desire while still getting what we truly need; a vehicle we can depend on.
