Crossover to Luxury
For a while now Infiniti, the luxury brand of Nissan, has been wildly popular in the US. However it wasn't until recently that Infiniti started hitting the streets of the UK. Overall, the Infiniti line-up of vehicles is top-notch. The majority of the vehicles are a nice blend of quality, sophistication and sportiness. The EX37 fits the Infiniti line-up rather well.
Infiniti is referring to the EX37 as a crossover which to some just means that Infiniti is trying to hedge their bets and leave all windows open for potential consumers. A crossover is really just an SUV or in some cases a station wagon. At the end of the day one is not really sure what the exact cross over may be. In the case of the EX37 Infiniti delivers the vehicle with a small SUV-type style with some decent power options under the bonnet and a 4x4 driver train.
Of course when many people think about 4x4 they think about people taking their cars out the country and hopping some bumps and shooting up mud. However the modern 4x4 is driven by country folk as well as city dwellers. Why a city dweller needs a 4x4 on a daily basis still befuddles many, but the argument is that they need it for bad weather. Too each is own.
Under the bonnet of the Infiniti EX37 is being offered with one petrol option and one diesel option. The Petrol option is a 3.7-litre V6 that delivers 316bhp. This is the same engine that Nissan puts in the 370Z, but with a little more powered added to this crossover vehicle. The power is good enough to get the SUV from 0-60 in 6.4 seconds. Excellent power in case you feel like taking on street race and showing that you drive the little crossover that could. The diesel option is a 3.0-litre DCI V6 that gives good power, but nothing to write home about. A seven gear automatic shifter comes standard, but for those who like to do their own shifting it comes with a push and pull manual option.
The exterior of the Infiniti EX37 is essentially the standard crossover look with sporty lines to help create a less boxy SUV feel. The swoop down at the rear of the car looks nice, but at the end of the day causes the interior to lose a bit of space. Not that it truly matter no one really buys a crossover to haul people back and forth in, they do it to keep up with the status quo.
On the inside the EX37 is well appointed with luxury atonements throughout. Leather trim can be seen through the whole cabin and the instrument panel and console are filled to the edge with all the latest gadget bits. The true test of any luxury brand though is how the seats feel and Infiniti has done a wonderful job with the comfort of the seats. Even the pickiest of people will find it easy to get comfortable in the cabin of the EX37.
Buyers looking for a luxury crossover will be pleased with what the Infiniti EX37 has to offer. It rides nice, has good power and is the lap of luxury on the inside. Some of the other luxury brands might be a little nervous by the intro of Infiniti to the UK.
