Power and Class Under One Bonnet

Our Rating: No Rating Available

German car luxury car makers were fearful of the day that the Nissan luxury brand known as Infiniti crossed over the Atlantic from the US to the UK. For some years now in the United States Infiniti has been known as an affordable luxury brand that felt far more expensive than the actual sticker price. Now the Infiniti brand is landing on the shores of the UK and making quite a splash.

The Infiniti FX37 is aimed at those people who want a powerful SUV and have absolutely no concern about running costs or its impact on the Ozone layer. The FX37 is in the class of cars that includes the Porsche Cayenne and the various larger Range Rover models. This vehicle doe not shy away from the fact that it is big and powerful.

Under the bonnet Infiniti has put a V6 petrol powered in the FX37 that will get the driver from 0-60mph in about 6.8 seconds. That is impressive especially considering that this is a large SUV that is being discussed here. This is not a sporty coupe this is a full-on 4x4 super, luxury SUV. Top speed on the FX37 is 145mph which will suit pretty much everyone looking for a luxury SUV. Gas mileage is an estimated 23.4 combined which isn't earth-shattering, but there are worse offenders on the road today.

Exterior styling on the FX37 makes it look much more like a sport SUV than a full-sized luxury 4x4 which may or may not be a good thing. Some people like the rest of the world to know that they are driving a car that is partially responsible for the ozone layer being depleted while others like you think that they are responsible enough to buy a more earth-friendly beast. Either way Infiniti has delivers a sexy outside while still leaving a decent amount of space in the boot area to carry both people and luggage. With the rear seat in place the cargo capacity is 410-litres and with the seats folded down it extends to 1305-litres.

Inside the driver will be very pleased with the standard offerings of the FX37. The interior is at the top of the luxury class with a few points lowered because some of the same styling can be found in the run-of-the-mill Nissan products. However the true test of any luxury brand is seat comfort and the FX37 passes that exam with flying colors.

Standard features on all FX models include adaptive bi-xenon headlamps, heated and cooled front seats, leather trim throughout, electric adjust front seats, sunroof, cruise control, a rear view camera and a 2gb music box system. Infiniti offers upgrades that include 21-inch alloy wheels, sports seats and a CDC automatic dampening system.

With the FX37 and other models in their luxury SUV lone-up, Infiniti has taken dead-aim at its German rivals. The Japanese automaker has shown that they too can deliver a vehicle that has everything a person needs when they buy a top-of-the-line luxury SUV 4x4.
