G37 Convertible: Sexy Cabriolet

Nissan is finally bringing their luxury brand they branded Infiniti to the UK after years of prestige in the United States. For those not familiar with the Infiniti brand it is a line-up of vehicles that combine sporty suspensions, luxury interiors and modern exterior styles. The brand includes SUVs, coupes and saloons. Today the G37 Convertible will be the topic of discussion.

Infiniti is offering the G37 in a coupe and saloon versions as well as a two door cabriolet. The roof on the G37 Convertible is a stylish hardtop that helps keep the car pleasantly silent when the hardtop is up. Then when the driver wants to drive sans ceiling they simply click a button located on the door handle or one located within the cabin. This click of the button sees the hardtop fold into three pieces and disappear into the boot in a quick 25 seconds. Having the roof in the boot limits the cargo holding capabilities down to a meager 70-litres, but who is anyone kidding no one who buys a convertible cares about boot space. If you are looking for boot space you can always buy a saloon or an SUV.

Under the bonnet the G37 offers a stout 3.7-litre petrol powered engine that comes with 316bhp under the hood. This power plant can take a skilled driver from 0-60mph in about 6.2 seconds topping out at 155mph. Both are decent numbers for a non-sports car. The Infiniti G37 comes standard with a 6-speed manual gearbox, but for those people who can't be bothered with shifting Infiniti also offers a 7-speed automatic upgrade.

Infiniti has been widely praised for their overall sporty feel across the entire line and the G37 does not disappoint. Even the convertible has a soft, yet responsive ride that is aided by the adjustment Infiniti made to the rear suspension to account for the added weight of the roof being in the trunk.

The G37 comes in two trim level choices that Infiniti calls the GT and GT Premium. Standard equipment includes heated front seats, B-xenon headlamps that move when cornering, full leather trim, parking sensors, rear view camera, electric front seats, speed-sensitive power steering I-key smart entry, Bluetooth connectivity, six CD capable stereo and 19-inch alloy wheels. Step up to the GT Premium for about £3,000 more and the car make throws in 30gb hard disc navigation system with DVD playback and touch screen display. The Premium also comes with air-conditioned seats and a 13 speaker premium Bose stereo system.

Sadly for Infiniti that most people don't understand that they offer a truly luxurious car line that delivers an all the tick marks one comes to expect from a top-notch line. If Infiniti keeps putting out cars like the G37 Convertible the drivers of the UK are bound to sit up and take notice. Infiniti also deserves praise because their customer service is one of the best in the field. German brands need to sit up and take notice, there is a new luxury automaker on the black ready to push them out.
