The Unique Choice

Infiniti has redesigned the G37 Saloon and it may surprise a lot of people with just how good it really is for people looking for a smaller executive class car. The odd thing is though it seems like no one in the UK even knows it exists. Take a spin around a corporate parking lot and all you see is a line-up of German-made machines like Mercedes, Audi or BMW the only Japanese car that may be in one of these car parks would most likely be from Lexus.

The exterior styling of the Infiniti G37 Saloon are rather sharp with a sleek design that manages to mix class with sport. That shouldn't be a surprise given that Infiniti has made a name for itself in the United States by aiming their cars at luxury buyers who want a four-door that drives and feels like a two-door coupe.

Under the hood the G37 sports a peppy 3.7-litre V6 petrol engine that is the same power plant found under the hood of Nissan's 370Z. The good news is that Infiniti has amped up the horsepower a little bit for their version of the V6. The G37 Saloon runs on 316bhp and will get from 0-60mph in about 5.8 seconds. That was not a typo, the G37 Saloon gets from 0-60mph in 5.8 seconds. Not too shabby for an executive aimed car.

Fuel mileage is decent for a car that delivers such amazing power. The combined estimated mpg is 26mpg. The G37 Saloon gives off anywhere between 246 and 255g/km of CO2, which again isn't all that shameful for a larger car.

Suspension has always been a key selling point for all the Infiniti cars. Drivers often report that the vehicles are much sportier than they would have expected from a luxury car. People who like to drive get the feeling that they are driving the car not being driven by the car. The G37 Saloon is also offered with a unique steering upgrade that has the rear wheels turning in sync with the front wheels to help stability and control.

The Infiniti G37 Saloon is offered in three trim levels. The levels start out at standard move up to GT and end at S version. No matter which trim level the buyer chooses there are plenty of excellent pieces of equipment. Standard issue gadgets include electric sunroof, B-Xenon headlamps, parking sensors, I-Key smart entry, Bluetooth connectivity and speed-sensitive power steering. Stepping up to the GT the buyer will get leather trim throughout and heated front seats. The S model comes with the 4-wheel steering system, limited slip differential, firmer suspension under the car and better brakes.

Infiniti is offering the G37 in a standard coupe or a convertible coupe. For people not needing the extra two doors both these cars are excellently priced options. Overall the G37 Saloon is an excellent car for buyers looking for something a little more unique than the other cars typically found in the executive car parks of corporations around the UK.
