Jaguar has updated the X-TYPE in both performance and design. Specifically adding a six speed automatic with sequential shift function to the 2.2 liter diesel powered model, which is sure to get the attention of drivers who may have previously written off the X-TYPE as just another estate car. Although many critics of the X-TYPE may feel that these improvements have come a little too late, Jaguar stands behind their latest entry in the X-TYPE line.
The X-TYPE may not be the newest and freshest car on the road, but the attention to detail that went into the design of the engines that are used throughout the series clearly shows. Jaguar offers petrol fans a 231bhp 3.0 liter V6 with all-wheel drive. If you prefer a diesel powered engine, you're in luck, Jaguar offers a 128bhp 2.0 liter or a 152bhp 2.2 liter version. Jaguar also offers a four-wheel drive system that allows for excellent traction coming out of corners. The front-wheel drive versions of the X-TYPE fare just as well as the four-wheel drive version, this is mainly due to the well-designed chassis and suspension setups.
The biggest improvement to the X-TYPE lineup is the addition of a six speed automatic transmission version. If you opt for this version you will be rewarded with Jaguar's one touch control Sequential Shift for changing gears. The six gear ratios were chosen to offer the driver a refined cruising experience while still keeping it sporty. The addition of the automatic transmission also allows for the X-TYPE to reach maximum torque in all six gears. In the manual version maximum torque can only be achieved once the car reaches second gear. This newly designed system allows for the driver to utilize all the power available whenever it is needed.
The interior has basically stayed the same throughout its existence; when improvements have been added they have been done tastefully and do not detract from the aesthetics that many fans have come to appreciate. Jaguar continues to blend the new with the proven; they blend wood veneers and chrome cappings flawlessly while adding modern touches such as multi-function LCD screens, airbags and a multi-speaker stereo system. The interior was designed in such a way that all of the equipment doesn't seem overwhelming but flows together.
Jaguar offers the driver the option of customizing their rear seating arrangement with the addition of fold down seats. This allows for up to three additional passengers in the rear of the vehicle. If you do not need the space for people, you can simply fold down the seats and gain a large amount of storage space. Depending on if you are hauling passengers of luggage, you will have plenty of room for both.
Fans of the X-TYPE will notice that there have also been some changes made to the exterior of the vehicle. They now feature a redesigned 3D bright mesh grill that has the Jaguar growler emblem, the front bumper covers have been redesigned and there is now a bright splitter located in the lower air intakes. These changes are not drastic, but they do grab the attention of prospective buyers.
