POWERFUL HANDLING
Jaguar has been producing well-built and highly sought after vehicles since 1935. After five Le Mans wins in the 1950's Jaguar proved to the skeptics that they were a car company here to stay. Building on their reputation and well-designed sports cars, Jaguar has become one of the top selling automobiles still around today.
The latest installment from Jaguar features a 5.0 liter supercharged petrol engine. The 75th anniversary edition of the XKR offers the driver 523bhp which allows the KXR to reach 60mph in an astonishingly fast 4.4 seconds and tops out at 174mph. The torque has also been increased in the latest edition, it now features 655Nm or torque which required the installation of an upgraded torque converter in order to handle the extra power provided by the six-speed Jaguar Sequential Shift automatic transmission. Other enhancements were made to the suspension system. The new system provides increased spring and damper rates which results in a 25 per cent increase in stiffness and a ride height change of 15mm in the front and a 10mm change in the rear. Jaguar's Active Dynamics electronic damper control system has also been modified to handle the extra power that is produced by the XKR 75.
Jaguar has designed a fitting tribute to their sports car history with the XKR 75, by adding a full aerodynamic body kit to the special edition, it looks even more imposing than the standard XKR. Jaguar has also added a sports exhaust system designed to handle the volume and intensity of the high performance V8. The addition of eye-catching red brake calipers placed behind the 20? alloy wheels adds to the sports car feel of the car.
The interior of the XKR features its own color scheme with Charcoal leather seats that are stitched together using ivory thread and black suede headliners. Jaguar has also added special XKR 75 tread plates are located in the door sills. The Jaguar XKR 75 features rear seats but they are not suitable for anyone over the age of six, there is not a lot of leg room which many have come to expect from cars of this size. Although the rear seats leave something to be desired, Jaguar has included a spacious 330 liter trunk which is rather roomy for a car of this size. The interior of the XKR also features a luxurious and rich feeling cabin. There is also the rotary dial, or JaguarDrive control that is used in place of the conventional gearshift.
With only a limited production run of 75, the XKR 75 is not an automobile that everyone will have, but one that only a select few will be lucky enough to own. Some of the other options that may help you justify the purchase of the XKR 75 are the heated and cooled seats, the Jaguar Premium Surround Sound stereo and a heated windshield plus adaptive headlights. The XKR only comes in Charcoal grey but you have the ability to personalize yours with the optional stripe graphics that can be added.
