Picanto Domino: As Simple as Black and White
There are plenty of things to like about the company wide update that Kia seems to be doing to their brand. Almost every car in their line-up is getting or has received a pretty intense makeover the last few years. There has also been the release of completely new models like the Soul and the Optima that made huge splashes across the car making world. Now comes the update of Kia's Picanto.
As most people know the Picanto is Kia's citycar that has proven rather popular over the last several years due to the low overall price to get the car on the road and also the low running cost. The Picanto Domino is the ?special edition? version aptly titled after the black and white coloring found throughout the vehicle. As usual Kia has done more than slap a coat of paint on the car and called it a day. They have somehow been able increase the equipment while also decreasing the price.
Under the bonnet of the Kia's Picanto Domino drivers will be pleased with the 1.1-litre petrol powered engine that is a step up from the 1.0-litre normally found in the Picanto. The 1.1-litre engine runs on 64bhp of power and can get the driver from 0-60mph in 15.4 seconds. Top speed on a good day is about 96mph. The Kia's Picanto Domino is offered with either a manual or automatic gearbox. People who opt for the automatic will lose about 2 seconds in their get-up-and-go time.
The good news for Kia is that people usually don't buy citycars for their speed as most people take them home because they are easy to drive and affordable to run. The Kia's Picanto Domino scores high numbers in both the nimble and the cheap to drive categories. In the confines of the city any driver will be pleased with the nimble steering and the excellent turning radius not to mention the fact that it will fit in tiny parking spots. On the affordable front the Kia's Picanto Domino gets an impressive estimated 58.8 mpg combined.
Drivers who want to drive sporty looking citycars will be pleased to know that the Domino version of the Picanto can be ordered in either metallic white or metallic black. Either colour choice can also be ordered with an added roof stripe that will contrast the body shade. Kia is smart to add that little touch to help their owners look a little cooler when they park next to the much more expensive Mini.
Kia is also smart enough to know that with advancements in technology they can also equip a citycar with equipment that is usually reserved for more expensive cars. The standard features on the Kia's Picanto Domino include air-conditioning, remote central locking, leather trimmed steering wheel and an iPod compatible CD stereo.
If you are not sitting it is recommended that you take a seat before the price is mentioned. Ready? The Kia's Picanto Domino is road ready at less than £8,000. Enough said.
