Kia has always been known as the little Korean car maker that delivered sensible cars at a low cost. Many of their cars may have been odd looking, but they ran good and they sold a large number of units. Where Kia has always suffered though is in their larger vehicles. Most of their large saloon type cars were way too odd looking to be taken seriously and their sport utility and compact 4x4s were pretty much a joke on wheels. All that has changed though as Kia has taken great strides in becoming the low-budget, high-quality larger vehicle maker of choice.

One of the best advancement in Kia's larger vehicles is the redesigned Sportage 2.0-litre petrol. The exterior of the Kia Sportage has received a profound redo as well where it now falls much easier into the overall work of the compact 4x4 style. Before this version it was a boxy sort of thing that really walked the line between boring and ugly. Kia has upped the ante across their entire vehicle line-up, but the Sportage is one that truly shines in the redesign. Kia has made the Sportage longer and wider. They have also lowered the vehicle a little bit to allow for a more sleek appearance. The large headlights and fog lamps at the front make for a very profound front end. The overall style looks like it came more from a European automaker and not from one based in Asian.

Insider the Kia Sportage 2.0-litre petrol a seating system called ?Fold and Dive?. This seating system allows the seats to fold down completely into the floor to make a perfectly flat cargo space for moving larger objects. Another nice option is the fact that the front passenger seat can also be folded flat to allow for the storage of longer items. Boot space starts at 564-litres and can be upped to 1,353-litres with the seats in the fold and dive mode.

Another nice touch for storing purposes is that the glass on the back tailgate can open independently of the rest of the door which allows for an easier in and out of smaller items without have to open the entire door. Kia has also been able to store the spare on the inside and still leave a lot of room for passengers and items.

Under the bonnet of the Kia Sportage 2.0-litre petrol sits, you guessed it a 2.0-litre petrol powered engine that rides on a 140bhp of power and is the most affordable power option attached to the Sportage. Torque wise the 2.0-litre petrol engine delivers 184Nm at 4,500rpm and can get from 0-60mph in 10.4 seconds with a top speed of 111mph. Fuel consumptions is also decent for a larger style vehicle with an estimated 35.3mpg combined.

Drivers who spend most of their time driving in the city will be very pleased with a car like the Sportage 2.0-litre petrol due to the decent power it provides without sucking down the petrol at an expedited rate. The best part about all versions of the Sportage is that it easily goes from family MPV to an outdoors travelers dream.
