Murcielago SV: Not for the Weak

Our Rating: No Rating Available

Everyone knows that most of the Lamborghini line-up will suit even the most adventurous drivers in the world. All of their cars offer superior horsepower, handling and even comfort. These types of cars would lead the world to believe that there is no need to push the limits even further. Well sometimes a car maker just can't help themselves from making something the not only pushes the limits, but crosses them and never looks back. Lamborghini has taken then Murcielago and made it even more intense. They are calling this version the Murcielago SV. SV stands for ?Super Veloce? and they have only released one other car with that badge and that was the Diablo SV way back in 1994.

So what makes the Murcielago SV worthy of wearing the SV name plate? The easiest answer would be what would not make it an SV? But since you asked politely we will try and explain it for you. Let's start with the engine that is a super impressive 6.5-litre V12 that can deliver 663bhp at 8,000rpm. And since this engine is placed on a car that only weighs in at 1,640kg it is a combination that makes this one of the fastest cars in the entire world.

Weight wise the SV version of the Murcielago is a little more than 100kg lighter than the Murcielago LP640 that this version is based on. The engineers were able to strip that extra weight of the Murcielago SV by using carbon fibre in as many places as they could do so safely. What this lower weight means is that the Murcielago SV can get from 0-60mph in 3.2 seconds. The SV comes standard with a six-speed e-gear box that can be replaced with a manual shifter at no cost to the buyer. It is the little things after all right?

If you want to be impressed even further the Murcielago SV will get form resting to 100mph in seven seconds. If you want to push it even further the SV will get to its top speed of 212mph in just little more that it takes to get to 100mph.

To make sure the people understand that you are driving the Murcielago SV and not the Murcielago LP 640 Lamborghini has fitted the car with exposed carbon fibre bumpers and side vents. There is also on option to add on a huge rear spoiler that will truly set the SV apart from the LP640. The interior was also fitted with carbon fibre as well.

Lucky for people who are willing to spend £270,000 on a car fuel cost usually aren't an issue. The Murcielago SV will get a driver around 10mpg combined and that is when it is driven like a normal car sp people who drive like Sebastian Vettel can expect to get even lower numbers.

The Lamborghini Murcielago SV is indeed the superset of super cars available today. This is the type of car made the type of person who has tons of cash to burn and the guts to actually drive it even once. I would bet there are some professional race car drivers who wouldn't even feel comfortable behind the wheel of such a powerful machine.
