Ever since Land Rover introduced the consumer friendly version of their Range Rover the other car makers across the world have been trying to beat them at their own game. The Range Rover was revered the world over for the fact that it was a vehicle capable of driving in severe off-road conditions, but had the refined luxury inside the car normally found in top-of the line executive class vehicles. While companies like Mercedes, BMW and even Porsche released wannabes Land Rover was busy making the Range Rover an even most astute 4x4.

Much to the chagrin of those other car makers every time they get close to getting on the same level as the Range Rover Land Rover pops out a new version that sends the others back to the drawing board. At the end of the day these wannabes should just stick to what they do best. Mercedes would be better off sticking to making super luxury executive saloons and Porsche should stick to the two-door super coupes that made them famous. The reason Land Rover wins this battle and will always win this battle is because all they make are luxury 4x4s.

The latest version of the Land Rover Range Rover is equipped with an impressive 5.0-litre V8 petrol powered engine or a 4.4-litre TDV8 diesel powered engine under the bonnet. Both engines are meant to deliver pure power to the 4x4 driver train under the Range Rover. The petrol comes with 508bhp that is achieved with supercharged, direct fuel injection technology. And for those people who buy the Range Rover to pull large objects or bump a few humps in the country will be more than pleased with the 635Nm of torque the engineers were nice enough to provide.

Very little power is sacrificed if the Range Rover is bought with the 4.4-litre TDV8 diesel engine. The Land Rover team was nice enough to keep the diesel with 309bhp and 700Nm of torque. Both engine deliver serious power for people who like to show off on roadways or the off-roadways.

Of course the Land Rover engineers spent their normal amount of time making sure the ride quality it what people expect from a luxury-class 4x4. The suspension what is called Adaptive Dynamics what monitors the dampers of each wheel about 500 times per second to help adjust the body and ride controls to suit the driving style of the person behind the wheel. For off road users Land Rover gives the Range Rover and Terrain Response system that will allow for the maximum amount of control for any situation the driver may face from snow to sand.

The usually luxury appointments are present on the inside. Drivers looking for the ultimate in 4x4 luxury will want to check out the Autobiography model that allows the owner to select from various leather and wood finishes making a vehicle that is unique to them. This must be the luxury version of the personalized graphics Mini and Kia are offering their consumers.

Step out in style with the Land Rover Range Rover or step out in mud. Either way Land Rover continues to be the class of the field when it comes to luxury 4x4s.
