Lexus' sister company Toyota reinvented the hybrid market several years back with the introduction o of the top selling Prius. It isn't too much a stretch to believe that Lexus is now re-inventing the luxury hatch market by introducing the CT200h which runs with a hybrid engine under the hood. Lexus is the first car maker in any part of the world to release a hybrid in the luxury 5-door hatch department and given that they are using the same engine as the popular Prius there is little chance they will fail.

Lexus rarely fails, but when they do it usually isn't for very long. One of their perceived failures was the original launch of their GS luxury saloon. When the Lexus GS was first launched it was met with little excitement and owners were disappointed that it didn't live up to what a Lexus normally offers. Of course many car makers would have just scraped the model and moved on to other vehicles or at the very least released it with a different brand. However, this is Lexus and they don't like to fail.

Lexus launched the GS line a few years back and was met with a wall of resistance in the UK. One of the main reasons was that not many executives felt comfortable parking a Japanese-made luxury car in the executive car park of their corporation. The other reason there was a lot push back was because frankly the car just wasn't that great. Lexus went back to the drawing board and has released the latest version that may very well be the first non-German executive saloon to be taken seriously in quite some time.

For decades Lexus has shied away from selling a diesel engine under the bonnet of their car, but the time has finally come to include at least one in their line-up. The car they chose to fit with a diesel is in the IS line-up. Lexus has dubbed this model the Lexus IS220d. IF the outward appearance is any indication the power under the hood will be substantial. The exterior styling of the Lexus IS 220d looks very much like a GS, but on steroids. Lucky for Lexus steroids are legal in car making.

One of the biggest drawbacks of owning a convertible was the fact that until recently most of them came with ragtops. The ragtop was a negative for a variety of reasons. One of those reasons was that they often made the cars look odd when the roof was up. Another reason was because they were easy to break into if it was parked in a bad part of town. And the reason that most people didn't love a ragtop was because they often created a very loud interior when the roof was in the up position. Lucky for the convertible lovers out there most upscale car makers are now making their convertibles with a retractable metal roof.

Ever since Lexus hit the scene it has been viewed by most of the world as a car maker that delivers high quality saloons that are aimed at the upper-middle class and the upper class family or executive types. They have never spent all that much time building or selling the sportier cars. At the end of the day they never really needed to go after the sports car market. For some reason though they have decided that want to take on the likes of the BMW M3 or the Mercedes C63.

What is the best way for a brand that is known for subtly and often gets overlooked by the flashier brands to make a mark in the eyes on the world? The best answer if you are Lexus is to release a vehicle that will make people sit up and take notice when it drivers down the street. Until recently Lexus did not have one single car that made people jealous of the owner just by looking at it. Sure Lexus has built a luxury brand that is competing with the big boys like Mercedes and BMW, but at the end of the day they are viewed as boring and stodgy. Think about it, when was the last time you saw somebody under the age of 40 driving a Lexus?

Even though the Lexus brand has always received rave reviews across the board from look to quality it has never truly been serious competition to the German luxury brands that continue to lead the pack in the compact executive car class. That may change now that Lexus has re-launched the IS with some tweaks that are sure to please the German loyalists.

Over the last few years the Lexus brand is becoming more and more popular amongst the higher-end UK executive car buying set. It seems that the Japanese automaker is finally becoming a serious threat in that car department. And it may be wise for the German carmakers to take a longer look at what is making people lean toward the cars that Lexus puts out. One of the models that is picking up serious steam is the IS250.

Their reputation is built on designing luxurious, beautiful, dependable cars that the world has fallen in love with. Now Lexus can add horse power to their resume as the Lexus LFA offers an unbelievable 552 horse power engine in this two seat sports coupe. Faint of heart need not apply for a loan on this one; if the vehicle doesn't cause your heart to skip a beat the sticker price may put you in cardiac arrest. At £213,000, it's merely a dream for the average car buyer and a steal for those who demand a side order of exotic beauty to go with their heaping pile of raw power.
