Skoda Fabia Monte Carlo 1.2 TSI

Skoda Fabia Monte Carlo 1.2 TSI

The Skoda Fabia Monte Carlo 1.2 TSI has been launched to celebrate both the centenary of the historic Monte Carlo rally and the continued involvement of Skoda in motor sports. The new special edition is designed to add a bit of flair to the super mini that has always been seen as the ‘sensible’ car. Perhaps because of this reason, the Fabia has, despite having been around for quite a fair amount of time now, always dawdled behind rivals such as the SEAT Ibiza and the Ford Fiesta in terms of its appeal to the general car buying public. But the new Monte Carlo variant might just be the solution to change all of that. While it maintains the boxy and tall shape of the traditional Fabia design, the new Monte Carlo comes with a great deal more style, adding a hot hatchback makeover to the exterior design, with strong headlights, a radiator grill and blackened roof coming together with the normal 17-inch Trinity alloys to give the Skoda Fabia Monte Carlo 1.2 TSI quite an imposing presence on the road. The back of the Monte Carlo even features a roof spoiler and rear diffuser, though whether they really make any difference to the aerodynamic performance of the vehicle open to debate – nonetheless, they do look good.

Skoda Superb Greenline II

Skoda Superb Greenline II

The Skoda Superb Greenline II is the second generation of the eco-special vehicle from Skoda and is even more efficient than ever, possibly serving as definitive proof that the best can indeed get even better. The new Greenline II version of the ahead of the class Skoda Superb is the most environmentally friendly version yet made, having a 1.6 litre diesel engine with a stop start function and eco tyres which results in just 114g per kilometre of CO2 emissions. Consumers will be hard pressed to notice the difference at first however, given that in terms of aesthetics the Greenline II version is little different to the original. The only real visual clues to the low tax status of the car are the 16-inch alloys, and the badges that are positioned on the grille, the wing, and the tailgate.

Skoda Fabia Monte Carlo

Skoda Fabia Monte Carlo

A sporty Fabia is an attractive idea to many, yet the price tag of the 178bhp flagship vRS has proved a little off-putting to some. Fortunately, Skoda has now come up with an alternative in the form of the Monte Carlo. While the Monte Carlo has officially been released to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the iconic rally, as well as the 110th anniversary of Skoda’s own involvement in motor sports, the Monte Carlo is likely to be able to fill the gap in the market that exists between the vRS and the other vehicles in the range.

Skoda Citigo

Skoda Citigo

A catchy name is very far from being the only thing needed to make a successful car, though it certainly does not hurt. While Kia plays for the cute factor with the Picanto, and the Fiat 500 tries to take you down memory lane, Skoda has made the Citigo memorably simple – a car to get you going in the city, get it?
