Ford Transit Range

Most good stuff out there are ever hardly the result of a fluke. Careful planning and dedication has been the most success recipe of great people. The Ford Transit Range is one of those products that is a result of hard work.

Available in three variants, Ford has been able to tweak the rough edges - softening the rougher edges, thereby almost perfectly meeting driver’s demands in terms of refinement -  considering the fact that Vans are known for toughness, durability and reliability.

Some new spice has also been added in terms of refinement both on the exterior and mostly in the interior of the van. Driving experience in vans has also remarkably improved with the Transit Range.
The engine of the Transit Range comes in three different variants - the advanced 2.4-litre and 3.2-litre Duratorq TDCi common-rail diesels engines that take on the heavier-duty work in the rear-wheel drive as well as the front wheel drive 2.2-litre Duratorq TDCi common-rail diesels, all with different power ratings. The all-wheel drive variant is also gaining popularity these days.

Unlike what is experienced in terms of noise level while driving most vans, passengers and drivers cruising in the Transit range can have a decent conversation without having to scream at each other. This means an increase in articulation index.  Ford has been able to engineer the engine block and head to be stiffer while the rear axle whine was cut dramatically, thereby cutting down on noise, vibration, and harshness.

When you climb inside the transit range, the first catch is the tweaked “car-like” interior. This is a marked and welcome improvement considering that vans are used mainly for carrying stuff and occasionally, passengers.

Mock-aluminium detailing in the interior of a van is not what you see in every van. You will readily notice the use of this material in the steering wheel-spokes, gear lever as well as stereo controls. In addition to all of these, there is the toughness that's common to the switches, dials and other controls.

The standard CD player is appealing and the relocated gear lever into the dash makes it so much easier to get through to the cargo area or carry a third person. For those drivers that do spend most of the day behind the wheel of a Transit, the improvements to the interior will make life easier.

The seats are comfortable and there is good vision out the front and from the side mirrors. The designers have included plenty of nifty hidy-holes in the cabin that provides a tidy storage solution around the cabin. There are specific slots for 2-litre drinks containers and one for mobile devices too. There are cup holders and a glove-box which can store hanging folders.

Driver and passenger’s security is adequately catered for with array of security features. Firstly, the van is fitted with disc brakes in all wheels. ABS, brake traction control system, electronic brake force distribution, also the electronic stability programme are some of the standard security features. It also comes with a Thatcham alarm, hood lock and the PATS Passive Anti-Theft System.

In summary, the Transit is designed for carrying cargo – and it certainly does it giving its owner good value for money.
