The Audi A4 is a compact executive car based upon the Volkswagen B platform. The first generation model was the successor to the Audi 80, and is considered by the manufacturer to be a continuation of that line.

Introduced to the European market in 1994, the Audi A4 cars provided the consumer with a variety of different options, including a range of internal combustion engines in both petrol and diesel formats. The generation of nearly new Audi A4 cars being produced today began mass production in 2008. Known as the B8 series of Audi A4, the first car in this generation was revealed at the 2008 Frankfurt Motor Show and featured a four-door saloon and a five-door Avant (estate).
