The Audi A6 is a German-made car that comes in saloon or wagon models. All the generations of the A6 can be used in either front-wheel drive or Torsen-based four wheel drive.

The first generation A6 was also called the C4 and debuted in 1994 to 1997. The A6 was a remodeled and rebranded Audi 100. It underwent a major facelift to improve its design. The A6 utilized a 1.8 litre 20v inline four-cylinder engine and a 2.8 litre 30v V6 petrol engine.

The second generation A6 was called the C5 and debuted in 1997 to 2004. The car followed the Volkswagen Group C5 platform. The new design and improvements of the second generation A6 were made to compete with the Mercedes-Benz E-Class and the BMW 5-Series. This generation A6 used a 2.4 litre 30-valve V6 engine and a 2.8 litre V6 engine. During its lifetime, the second generation A6 also used the groundbreaking multitronic continuously variable transmission.

The latest generation Audi A6, C7 Typ 4G, debuted in 2011. This generation was heavily patterned after the Audi A8. The car increased its wheelbase by almost 3-inches. The redesigning of the A6 helped reduce the drag coefficient to 0.26 Cd. The latest A6 uses two petrol engines such as the 2.8 litre FSI V6 204 horse power engine and the 3.0 litre supercharged FSI engine.
