Bentley Motors Limited, a manufacturer of luxury automobiles headquartered in Chesire, United Kingdom, created a performance luxury car in the year 1980. This was called the Bentley Mulsanne, which came from the Mulsanne Straight, a company history of five victories at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in the years 1924 until 1930.

                The Mulsanne was created as a successor of the full size luxury car called Bentley T2, and it was created as a four door sedan with an FR layout, or a front engine, rear wheel drive layout. The first version of the Mulsanne was produced in 1980 until 1992, and it was succeeded by the Bentley Turbo R and the Bentley Brooklands. It is related to other Rolls-Royce models such as the Silver Spirit and the Silver Spur in theat it has the Rolls-Royce V8 platform.

                Another version of the car as displayed at the Geneva Motor Show in 1982 is the Mulsanne Turbo, which was produced in 1985. Another version is the Mulsanne S in 1987, which does not have a turbocharger unlike the Mulsanne Turbo. Beginning in 2010, production of the Bentley Mulsanne was finally released in the United Kingdom. This car is assembled in Crewe, England, and it is a four door saloon or sedan classed as a luxury car.

                This new version was designed by the Belgian automobile designer, Dirk van Braeckel, and it replaced the Bentley Arnage in the market. It was displayed at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance in August 2009 and it was included in an auction in the same event.
