The Chevrolet Matiz is a city car that has been on the market since 1998. Chevrolet Matiz sales occur under the name Daewoo Matiz in South Korea. South Korea based GM Korea sells the Chevrolet Matiz cars there. Elsewhere in the world, people can find Chevrolet Matiz cars under the name Chevrolet Spark.

The first generation of the car was the M100. It came out in 1998 and was sold in South Korea and Europe. The exterior look drew inspiration from the Fiat Cinquencento. The car had a petrol engine. Chevrolet Matiz sales soared; the car was the best selling Daewoo model in Europe and India for four years after it came out in 1998. In 2000, an update came out for the nearly new Chevrolet Matiz. The M150 first got exported out of Korea in 2001. This car modified the front end structure to allow the car to include a 4 cylinder engine. In Japan, this car had yet another name: the GM Daewoo Matiz.

The second generation of the Chevrolet Matiz included the M200 and M250. The M3X came out in 2005 and included significant changes. The car got a completely new look, for one thing. The new body was inspired by the Italdesign Diudiaro. The engine was also updated. The M3X gets better fuel economy than older models thanks to the improved engine and a lowered drag coefficient.

The third generation of the car has also started to appear in markets. The Chevrolet Beat debuted at the 2007 New York International Auto Show as a concept car. There is also diesel version of this car. The beat is a three door hatchback with front wheel drive. It has a turbocharged petrol engine and automatic transmission.
